Abstract:
A surgical drape is described which includes a pouch having a drawstring through a channel which runs along one edge of the pouch. When the drawstring is pulled through the channel, the edge of the pouch can be gathered to create a concave surface to control and contain fluids about a surgical site.
A drape is described which includes a three dimensional system for covering appendages of a patient. The drape includes a top sheet which forms a first, generally horizontal plane when draped over a patient. The drape further includes an apron which is attached to the top sheet and forms second and third, generally vertical planes.
A double pouch is described in which a smaller pouch is located within a larger pouch. The larger pouch can be used to accommodate a patient's leg or other appendage during a surgical procedure while the smaller pouch can be used to retain irrigation fluids and surgical debris. In the preferred embodiment, the smaller pouch can be moved to the outside of the larger pouch when the larger pouch is not intended to be used. In one embodiment, the pouches can be attached to a main drape having a fenestration through which a patient's appendage is inserted.
