  • Filed:
    Sep 3, 1974
  • Appl. No.:
    5/502599
  • Inventors:
Joseph H. Vogelman - Roslyn NY
Norman Orentreich - New York NY
  • International Classification:
    A61M 500
  • US Classification:
    128218DA
  • Abstract:
In a syringe or syringe capsule, particularly for micro-administration of highly viscous liquids, there are provided a zero or negative allowance between the barrel and the plunger and a low friction, resilient interface between the barrel and the plunger. There is thus provided a high pressure-resistant seal which, nevertheless, permits manual operation of the syringe with a reasonable amount of force.
  • Non-Invasive Method For The Measurement Of Body Fat

    view source
  • US Patent:
    41447638, Mar 20, 1979
  • Filed:
    Mar 29, 1978
  • Appl. No.:
    5/891183
  • Inventors:
Joseph H. Vogelman - Roslyn NY
  • International Classification:
    G01N 902
  • US Classification:
    73433
  • Abstract:
A non-invasive method for the measurement of body fat which may be used to measure living objects. A pair of airtight chambers are used to measure the body volume which is determined by the change in pressure resulting from the presence of the body in an enclosed chamber and utilizing Boyle's law. The second chamber in which the object is to be placed may be of known or unknown volume and hence can be adjustable. The fat fraction of the body is computed from the known relationship between body density and fat.
  • Cosmetic Container Including Integrated Lens Structure

  • US Patent:
    40448894, Aug 30, 1977
  • Filed:
    Sep 13, 1976
  • Appl. No.:
    5/722527
  • Inventors:
Seymour Orentreich - Forest Hills NY
    Joseph Vogelman - Roslyn NY
  • International Classification:
    B65D 2554
    G02C 1102
  • US Classification:
    206459
  • Abstract:
A cosmetic container includes one member on which a listing of the ingredients of the material contained is printed in letters which are too small to be read without magnification. An overlying member of the container includes a Fresnel lens structure, which, when the container is in a closed condition, overlies and is in registration with the ingredient-identifying small print on the other member to magnify and make readable the small print.
  • High Viscosity Fluid Delivery System

    view source
  • US Patent:
    46646558, May 12, 1987
  • Filed:
    Mar 20, 1986
  • Appl. No.:
    6/841971
  • Inventors:
Norman Orentreich - New York NY
Joseph H. Vogelman - Roslyn NY
  • International Classification:
    A61M 5245
  • US Classification:
    604232
  • Abstract:
The present invention provides a syringe for the administration of small amounts of high viscosity fluid having a barrel and a delivery needle having substantially the same inside diameter. It is preferred that the barrel comprise a stainless steel tube. A generally cylindrical housing member having openings at each end of the housing and threads on one end for attaching the housing member to the barrel. An adapter member, secured to the other end of the housing member, receives and supports the other end of the barrel. A cap secures the adapter member to the other end of the housing member. A plunger is adapted for axial displacement within the barrel, and has a plunger tip which is chemically inert with respect to the fluid and which is adapted to slidingly engage the interior surface of the barrel and to seal the fluid within the barrel. A finger grip and a thumb grip facilitate movement of the plunger relative to the barrel. In one embodiment, the syringe may be directly filled with a highly viscous fluid such as silicone fluid by positioning the syringe within an adapter fitted to a bottle containing the fluid.
  • Cordless Telephone

    view source
  • US Patent:
    43329810, Jun 1, 1982
  • Filed:
    Aug 15, 1980
  • Appl. No.:
    6/178358
  • Inventors:
Edward R. Palombi - New York NY
Joseph H. Vogelman - Roslyn NY
  • International Classification:
    H04Q 704
  • US Classification:
    179 2EA
  • Abstract:
A cordless telephone system in which a communications path is established and maintained between a base and a remote unit with the transmission of a binary coded pulse train. Maintenance of the communications path in this manner does not require multiple carrier signals and avoids interference between adjacent remote units. A microphone switch is also provided that prevents accidental turn-on of the remote unit, thus preventing accidental battery depletion.
  • System For Transmitting Audio Advertising Messages To Shopping Carts Moving Through Spatially Defined Transmission Zones Arranged In A Store

    view source
  • US Patent:
    52648222, Nov 23, 1993
  • Filed:
    Feb 22, 1991
  • Appl. No.:
    7/660740
  • Inventors:
Joseph H. Vogelman - Roslyn NY
Edward R. Palombi - New York NY
  • International Classification:
    G08B 700
  • US Classification:
    34028601
  • Abstract:
A system for delivering audio advertising messages to shopping carts moving through a plurality of spatially defined transmission zones arranged in the aisles of a store. In the illustrative embodiment, a plurality of transmitters of compact construction are each attached to a shelf within the store. Each shelf transmitter has a spatially defined transmission zone of selected geometry and predetermined dimensions so as to occupy an assigned region of space within one of the aisles in the store. When any one of these transmitters detects a shopping cart residing in its spatially defined transmission zone, the transmitter transmits over its spatially defined transmission zone, a modulated signal carrying an audio message provided by a playback mechanism within the transmitter. A receiver on the detected shopping cart demodulates the received modulated carrier signal and produces an audible signal of the audio message provided by the playback mechanism in the transmitter. As a result of the present invention, the same carrier frequency can be used by each shelf transmitter throughout the store, permitting the use of identical shelf transmitters, while the construction of the shopping cart receivers is made remarkably simple and inexpensive.

  • US Patent:
    44020104, Aug 30, 1983
  • Filed:
    Jan 10, 1983
  • Appl. No.:
    6/457047
  • Inventors:
    Joseph Vogelman - Roslyn NY
  • Assignee:
VVS Energy Patent Fund, Inc. - Atlantic Beach NY
  • International Classification:
    H04N 504
  • US Classification:
    358133
  • Abstract:
An input signal source of any form (e. g. camera or recorder) supplies a standard base band video wave. This video signal is fed to a conventional analog-to-digital converter (11) which samples the incoming wave train at a rate of 8 megahertz under the control of a system clock of a microprocessor (15). The microprocessor (15) recognizes the frame and line sync information from a sync detector 18 thereof, and activates a 600-byte current line memory (120 such that one line of scanned, a megahertz sampled television video information is stored therein. The first line of frame, there the microprocessor (15) computes first, second and third order differences and encodes information according to an algorithms.

The carpule has a bore with a cross-sectional area which is about 100 to 400 times greater than the cross-sectional area of the bore of the delivery needle and a movable plug sealing the fluid within the carpule. The needle is secured to one end of the carpule and a generally cylindrical housing member is adapted to receive the carpule, the housing member having means on one end for retaining the one end of the carpule. An adapter member is secured to the other end of the housing member to secure the other end of the carpule and adapter retention means are provided for securing the adapter member to the other end of the housing member. A plunger is adapted to actually displace the carpule plug within the carpule bore for delivery of the fluid through the needle.
