Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a system and method which establishes physically fixed charger stations that work in conjunction with a medical cart, such as an ultrasound cart. The medial cart contains a power supply, such as a large battery, with the capacity to keep the system going for a full day's use. Each docking station provides a fixed location for one or more carts and allows each cart to plug directly into a source of premises power. The docking stations allow the plugged-in cart to recharge while the cart is not in use. In one embodiment, a large Class C battery capable of powering not only the medical device but its associated peripherals as well. Thus, when the cart is removed from the docking station and taken to a patient's location, the equipment on the cart can be operated without the need for plugging the cart into a wall outlet thereby eliminating the need for a long power cord. The fixed locations of the docking station also eliminates the need for hunting “misplaced” carts.

Abstract:
A device has been designed that allows for modular rearrangement of groups of controls such that a user can shift control “pods” from left to right on the face of the device without changing the functionality of the device in any manner. The pods are electrically and mechanically movable from one port to another and thus pods can be designed having different control types for controlling the same function. Thus, an operator can select the operator's preferred control types for a particular set of functions and can then adapt the control panel with the operator's preference of both control type and control function location. This then allows the same device to be used by different operators one after the other with each operator being able to customize the control panel according to that operator's preferences. In one embodiment operators can rearrange the control panel in the hot mode so that the device need not be turned off.
Handheld Computer With Interchangeable Keypad/Battery Module

International Classification:

US Classification:

Abstract:
The present invention is a modular handheld device. The modular handheld comprises a console and a keypad/battery module that acts with the console. The handheld can have other module parts. For example different modular handles can be attached to the handheld. The user or user organization has the option to select from one or more smaller keypad/battery battery modules and/or one or more larger keypad/battery modules with more battery capacity. The appropriate keypad/battery module is selected based on the needs of the particular user or application. This allows an organization to have multiple handheld configurations which utilize the same core computing engine, thus greatly reducing the number of IT platforms that need to be supported. By combining the display, processor, scan engines and radios into a console and separating the keypad and batteries into a “personality module” many different handhelds can be customized from a single console.

Abstract:
A cargo transportation device includes a lift assembly for raising and lowering cargo and an operator cabin in which an operator controls the lift assembly. A load backrest is coupled to the cabin, and an automatic data collection device, which is configured to interrogate wireless communication devices, is coupled to the load backrest. The cargo transportation device includes a computing device having logic for controlling the automatic data collection device and logic for controlling the lift assembly, and a display device in communication with the computing device. The display device is coupled to the cabin and configured to provide the operator with information from the computing device.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a system and method which allows for a simplified user interface tailored to specific procedures and which allows for mobility and easy sanitation. Advantage is taken of an understanding as to the critical functions that an operator is to perform for a specific range of procedures and tailoring the user input to accommodate only those functions. In one embodiment, the user interface consists of a touch screen and a rotatable knob having positional indents with the indents providing incremental increases or decreases in functionality specific to exams or procedures performed with the sonographic equipment. Using this approach, the complexity normally associated with operating sonographic devices is greatly reduced. The operational controls available from the touch screen are changeable to accommodate different function uses of the sonographic device.

Abstract:
System and method for analyzing position data and fuel injector data from a vehicle equipped with a geographical position system (GPS) and fuel injector sensors to enable fuel use patterns of the vehicle to be analyzed. Data defining a flow of fuel through the vehicle's fuel injectors is combined with temporal data and GPS data to produce fuel use encoded GPS data that is transmitted to a remote computer. The fuel use encoded GPS data can be analyzed to determine how much fuel was used by the vehicle during off road use to enable proper fuel tax computations to be performed. The data can also be used to evaluate the mechanical condition of a vehicle. By monitoring fuel use for a trip repeated numerous times, a decrease in fuel efficiency may indicate a mechanical problem (dirty injectors, fouled spark plugs, etc).
