According to the blog kept by Joshua Kaufman, whose Apple MacBook was stolen from his Oakland, Calif., apartment on March 21, he reported the crime immediately and then began collecting photos of the person using his computer with the help of Hidden, an app that lived up to its name. He posted
Then there's the case of Joshua Kaufman. The Oakland resident used tracking software to locate his laptop computer after someone stole it from his home during a March 21 burglary. But he couldn't get Oakland police interested in his case.
Joshua Kaufman was able to use the pictures and the spyware to track down the man in possession of his stolen computer. Now hes got his laptop back and po-lice have arrested a 27-yearold taxi driver.
When Joshua Kaufman's Apple MacBook was stolen from his apartment in Oakland, Calif, he didn't throw up his arms in despair. Instead, Kaufman turned on an app called Hidden that allowed him to surreptitiously photograph the thief -- and ultimately catch him.
A Web campaign to catch the alleged thief was launched by Joshua Kaufman, who filed a police report in late March stating that someone had broken into his North Oakland apartment and stolen his Apple MacBook computer.
