Abstract:

Disclosed are compounds useful in potentiating the cytotoxic effect of chemotherapeutic agents, the compounds having the formula: ##STR1## and pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof, wherein R is --H or --[C(O)]. sub. a --(CH. sub. 2). sub. b --A, a is 0-1 and b is 0-6 provided that a and b are not both zero; and A is selected from the group consisting of --NR. sub. 1 R. sub. 2 wherein R. sub. 1 and R. sub. 2 are independently alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and either or both of R. sub. 1 and R. sub. 2 are optionally substituted with --OH; ##STR2## wherein X and Y are independently alkylene having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Z is --O--, --N(R. sub. 3)--, or --CH(R. sub. 4)--, wherein R. sub. 3 and R. sub. 4 are each hydrogen or alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms optionally substituted with a hydroxyl group; halide; and trihalomethyl.
