An air compressor and aftercooler combination in which the aftercooler is located in front of the air compressor. The aftercooler is connected to the air compressor for receiving hot, high pressure air and for effectively cooling the same such that the temperature of the high pressure air delivered by the aftercooler approaches that of atmospheric ambient. A fan is located to draw and direct atmospheric ambient air to the compressor and to and through aftercooler for effective cooling of the high pressure air in the aftercooler, as received from the compressor.

Abstract:
Apparatus for lubricating components in an air compressor having a crankcase for holding oil. The apparatus includes an oil pump located in the crankcase and oil, and a hollow plunger mechanically and hydraulically connected between the oil pump and an eccentric provided on a crankshaft of the air compressor. A filter for filtering the oil held in the crankcase is mounted on a block secured to an external surface of the crankcase. The block mounts the filter on the crankcase and in fluid communication with the pump such that filtered oil is directed to the hollow plunger from the pump after oil is directed into the pump from the filter and after oil is pumped from the crankcase and sent to the filter by the pump.

Abstract:
An inlet valve assembly for an air compressor and/or compressor-exhauster having a plug member disposed in a cylinder head. A buffer plate screwed onto the lower end of a multi-threaded stud. A spring plate disposed on top of the buffer plate and a guide ring located between the spring plate and a valve plate. An inlet valve seat disposed above the valve plate and a lockout screwed onto an intermediate threaded portion of the multi-threaded stud. An inlet valve unloader slidably mounted on guide bushing and a lockout screwed onto the upper end of the multi-threaded stud. An unloader return spring caged between the inlet valve spring and the inlet valve unloader. A plurality of radially extending tab portions led along the peripheral edge of the buffer plate for preventing parts of the inlet valve from falling into the compressor chamber when the multi-threaded stud breaks.

Abstract:
A push rod holder for use with a brake cylinder of a railroad vehicle is disclosed. The push rod holder includes an annular outer metal member and an annular inner elastomeric member. The annular inner elastomeric member is molded to an interior surface of the annular outer metal member. The push rod holder defines at least one set screw throughhole and a pair of aligned holder pin throughholes. Each of the throughholes is oriented perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the push rod holder. The brake cylinder includes a hollow piston rod and a push rod assembly inserted therein. The push rod holder concentrically fits onto the hollow piston rod. The annular inner elastomeric member assures that the push rod holder fits snugly about the hollow piston rod. At least one set screw is used to attach the push rod holder to the hollow piston rod via the at least one set screw throughhole. A holder pin device is used to lock the push rod holder to the hollow piston rod and the push rod assembly contained therein.

Abstract:
An improved resilient type sealing member for use at least in an application which requires both sealing of an annular space between an inner surface of a first member and an adjacent outer surface of a second member at least partially disposed for reciprocal movement within such first member and for providing support to such second member during such reciprocal movement. The improved resilient type sealing member includes a generally round resilient disc-like member having each of a first predetermined diameter and a predetermined thickness. Such resilient disc-like member includes a pair of radially opposed and substantially flat parallel side portions. A first groove, having a first predetermined shape and a first predetermined depth, is formed in a first one of such pair of radially opposed and substantially flat parallel side portions. Such first groove being disposed closely adjacent an outer edge of the resilient disc-like member. A second groove, having a second predetermined shape and a second predetermined depth, is formed in a second one of such pair of side portions.
