Abstract:

A method and system for providing virtual access to product/service information distributed across heterogeneous catalog systems is disclosed. The method and system include subscribing a first catalog server to at least a portion of the information stored on one or more remote catalog systems, thereby creating a subscribing catalog server. Thereafter, a replication process is performed to synchronize information on the subscribing catalog server with the subscribed information on the remote catalog systems. A user may then use the subscribing catalog server to search and browse the synchronized information, thereby providing one site for viewing information from multiple catalog servers.

Abstract:

One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that identifies network switches along a path. During operation, the system receives an address of a source node and an address of a destination node. The system maintains a set of topology information for a network. The system further simulates a data packet originated at the source node and destined for the destination node. During the simulation, the system determines whether a current-hop node performs layer-3, layer-2, or sub-layer-2 switching. The system sends a query to the current-hop node over a separate control channel to determine the status of the current-hop node and discover a next-hop node. The system then receives a reply. The system determines the next-hop node based on the reply and sets the next-hop node as the current-hop node.

Abstract:

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for resolving a hang condition in a distributed environment including a client computer and server computer(s). A network thread is provided, which passes requests from the client computer to the one or more server computers and responses from the server computers to the client computer. Worker thread(s) are provided on the server computers. The worker threads receive requests from the network thread, execute the requests, and pass responses to the requests back to the network thread. A request is sent from the client computer to a server computer through the network thread. A timer associated with the request is started on the client computer. The timer specifies a pre-defined time period for receiving a response to the request. When no response has been received within the pre-defined time period, a reset request is sent to the server computer.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for measuring the length of web in a bridge of a corrugator using an optical sensing device is disclosed. In one embodiment a variable amount of singleface web on a corrugated bridge is calibrated using a measurement of a coded moisture sequence. In another embodiment a single detector signal and an adaptive threshhold is used to detect only rapid changes of moisture content. In still another embodiment a feature of detecting the timing of a signal pattern to the pulse durations of the sprayer is used so that even as the paper speed varies the ratio of short to long remains the same.

MTJ stacks formed using prior art processes often fail because of shorts between the pinned layer and the top electrode. This problem has been overcome by depositing a protective layer on the MTJ sidewalls followed by an inter-layer dielectric. Then planarizing until the protective layer is just exposed. Finally, an etching (or second CMP) process is used to selectively remove the protective layer from the top surface of the cap layer.
