Abstract:
Oxychlorination catalyst compositions which include a catalytically effective amount of an oxychlorination catalyst and a diluent having certain chemical composition and/or physical properties are disclosed. Processes using such oxychlorination catalyst compositions are also described. Some oxychlorination catalyst compositions and processes disclosed herein can increase the optimal operating temperature, and thereby increase the production capacity of an existing reactor, such as a fluid-bed reactor, compared to other oxychlorination catalyst compositions.

Abstract:
Fims of fluorine-doped zinc oxide are deposited from vaporized precursor compounds comprising a chelate of a dialkylzinc, such as an amine chelate, an oxygen source, and a fluorine source. The coatings are highly electrically conductive, transparent to visible light, reflective to infrared radiation, absorbing to ultraviolet light, and free of carbon impurity.

Abstract:
A process for the manufacture of 1,1,3,3-tetrachloropropene, the process comprising dehydrochlorinating 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane, where said step of dehydrochlorinating 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane takes place in the presence of an oxidizing agent and in the presence of a Lewis acid, and where the oxidizing agent is chlorine and the Lewis acid is ferric chloride.

Abstract:
A process of the type for producing 1,1,1,2,3-pentachloropropane by introducing 1,1,1,3-tetrachloropropane, chlorine, and Lewis acid catalyst, optionally in the presence of carbon tetrachloride, the improvement comprising introducing the Lewis acid as a slurry within a chlorinated hydrocarbon.
Catalyst And Process For Oxychlorination Of Ethylene To Dichloroethane
In an oxychlorination process of the type where ethylene is converted to 1,2-dichloroethane in the presence of a supported copper catalyst, the improvement comprising: the use of a supported catalyst prepared by (i) impregnating, within a first step, an alumina support with a first aqueous solution including copper, an alkaline earth metal, and an alkali metal to thereby form a first catalyst component; and (ii) impregnating, within a subsequent step, the first catalyst component with a second aqueous solution including copper and alkaline earth metal, where the second aqueous solution is substantially devoid of alkali metal, to thereby form the supported catalyst.

Abstract:
A method of producing carbon tetrachloride, the method comprising the step of reacting chlorine with chloroform in the presence of electromagnetic radiation within a reaction mixture that includes the chlorine, the chloroform, and carbon tetrachloride, where the concentration of chloroform is less than 5000 ppm by weight relative to the weight of the reaction mixture, where the reaction mixture includes at least stoichiometric levels of chlorine relative to chloroform, where the electromagnetic radiation creates chloride radicals, and where the reaction mixture is well mixed.
