Abstract:

A device for delivering an expandable member to a luminal structure in a patient is described. In some embodiments, the device has a carrier member, with a carrier lumen extending at least partially therethrough. The device can have an elongate member that extends through the carrier lumen across a first notch in the carrier member. The device can have an expandable member that expands within and engages the luminal structure, can be carried by the carrier member, and has a first portion that fits within the first notch. When the elongate member extends through the carrier lumen and across the first notch, the elongate member secures the first portion to the carrier member. The elongate member is configured to move axially through the carrier lumen such that the elongate member permits release of the first portion from the carrier member and expansion of at least part of the expandable member.

Abstract:

An occlusion device delivery system can deliver an implant using a catheter. A distal section of the catheter has proximal and distal apertures extending through a wall of the catheter. The implant can be wound about the distal section and secured to the catheter via an engagement mechanism. The implant has a proximal segment that curves inwardly across the proximal aperture and a distal segment that curves inwardly across the distal aperture. The engagement mechanism engages the proximal and distal segments within their respective apertures to secure the implant to the catheter.

An occlusion system can include an expandable implant that can be delivered to a bodily lumen. The implant can be carried on an engagement section of a catheter used in the system. The implant can be assembled onto the catheter by coupling a cover member of the implant with a support member of the implant. When assembled, the system can be advantageously configured to have a low delivery profile to facilitate delivery through catheters having a size of less than 7 Fr, and in some cases, less than 6 Fr.
