In accordance with the invention, magnetostrictive saw devices are provided with tunable transducer structures for enhanced performance. The transducers are in the form of patterned conductors disposed between magnetic films. The magnetostrictive response is tuned by adjusting the thickness of magnetic film overlying the conductive layer.

Abstract:

A method creates cover pages for news themes, topics, and stories, with elements to allow viewing more information from the theme, topic, or story. A database of stories is provided, comprising text, images, and possibly other web-accessible content. For a theme-based cover page, a theme is selected, and topics relevant to that theme are chosen. Search strings generated from the topics are used to search the database for matching stories. Representative images for the matching stories are then chosen from the database, and headlines are created based on the story content. For a topic-based cover page, a topic is selected and is used to search the database for matching stories. The cover page, comprising the image and information about the theme, topic, or story, is then created and displayed, with clickable elements to view more information about the theme, topic, or story.

A disambiguation database is created from a digital encyclopedia database. The digital encyclopedia database comprises a plurality of pages. A list of pages of the digital encyclopedia database is obtained. It is determined if each page of the list is a disambiguation page or a redirect page. For each disambiguation page or redirect page, a page type is determined and a page popularity is computed. The disambiguation database comprises links to redirect pages, links to disambiguation pages, page popularities, and page types. The disambiguation database may be used to disambiguate entities that have been extracted from an article.

Abstract:

Ambiguous entities extracted from an article are disambiguated to determine an entity type. Entities are extracted, combined, and entity aliases are created. The entity type is determined by searching a disambiguation database for matching pages in a digital encyclopedia database. A score is computed for each entity and entity alias according to a number of links in the matching pages, and according to a page popularity for the matching pages in the disambiguation database. The highest scoring entity alias is selected and the entity type is the page type of the matching page. Abstracts for the entities may also be retrieved from the matching pages.

Abstract:

A method includes aggregating a set of analyzed webpage portions from at least two unaffiliated websites. The method also includes transmitting an aggregated result, the aggregated result associated with an aggregated set of analyzed webpage portions. Another embodiment includes the set of analyzed webpage portions being associated with a topic. Yet another embodiment includes receiving an indication of an occurrence of a browser event and analyzing, in response to receiving the indication, a webpage portion then storing an analyzed webpage portion and the browser event in a database. Yet another embodiment includes analyzing the webpage portion by downloading a webpage portion from at least one website, extracting a text portion from the webpage portion and associating, in response to extracting the text portion, at least one topic from the text portion.
