Abstract:

A complex image is apodized to suppress sidelobes. An original complex image of an object is received. The complex image comprises a plurality of data points and sidelobes. The complex image is transformed to a k-space image which is then trimmed to remove all points outside of a geometric shape. This trimming is done with the shape overlaying the image and being at a first angle with respect to the image. The trimming produces a trimmed k-space image. The trimmed k-space image is then converted back to a new complex image having a sidelobe structure different from the original complex image. The new complex image is then normalized by adjusting its intensity such that its peak amplitude matches a peak amplitude in the original complex image. A minimum function is then performed on the magnitudes of the original and new complex images. The result is an apodized image with suppressed sidelobe structure.

A signal-of-interest is received by using a first and second planar electrically conductive disc to define an antenna. The antenna produces RF signal outputs at three output ports E, Eand E, each having a different associated gain pattern and polarization response. A LORAN device may include a LORAN antenna, a LORAN receiver, an RF signal path extending between the LORAN antenna and the LORAN receiver and being subject to ambient RF interference, and an ambient RF interference canceller coupled in the RF signal path. The ambient RF interference canceller may include an ambient RF interference sensor configured to generate an estimated ambient RF interference signal based on the sensed ambient RF interference, and cancellation circuitry configured to cooperate with the ambient RF interference sensor to generate an ambient RF interference cancellation signal based upon the sensed ambient RF interference signal, and add the ambient RF interference cancellation signal to the RF signal path.
