Abstract:A coil handler device is configured for grasping, lifting and transporting a coil of material that is coiled in such a manner as to have an outer periphery and an inner periphery and to define a longitudinal axis. The handler device includes a frame and a grasping and lifting assembly. The grasping and lifting assembly includes at least one clamping clement having first and second clamping surfaces for engaging and securing the coil along a radial line at the inner and outer peripheries of the coil. The clamping element includes a first clamp leg elongated in a direction along the radial line and a second clamp leg fixedly connected to the first clamp leg transverse to the first clamp leg at a first end. The second clamp leg has a second end operably connected to a lifting assembly for raising and lowering the coil when it is secured by the clamping element. The grasping and lifting assembly includes first and second clamp arms positioned along the first clamp leg for securing the coil at the inner and outer peripheries.

Abstract:A cold rolled full hard steel strap usable in a strapping machine has a tensile strength of at least about 125. 7 thousand pounds per square inch (KSI) when the strap has a width of about 0. 500 inches and a thickness of 0. 020 inches. The steel strap is fabricated from a coiled steel formed by hot mill rolling and reduced by cold rolling. The steel strap has a composition of approximately (in weight percent): 0. 02 to 0. 25 percent carbon, 0. 15 to 1. 50 percent manganese, 0. 01 to 0. 12 percent aluminum, 0. 04 to 0. 03 percent nitrogen, 0. 04 to 0. 50 percent copper, 0. 03 to 0. 25 percent nickel, 0. 02 to 0. 25 percent molybdenum, 0. 03 to 0. 25 percent chromium, maximum 0. 05 percent phosphorous, maximum 0. 05 percent sulfur, and maximum 0. 25 percent silicon.

Abstract:A strip of multiple seals, each seal for sealing around overlying courses of strapping material to form a seal of the strapping material onto itself at the overlying courses includes an elongated strip of ductile metal. The strip has a longitudinal direction having edges and defining a longitudinal axis parallel to the edges, and a transverse direction normal to the longitudinal axis. Each seal defines a respective transverse axis. The strip has a plurality of substantially identical slots formed in the transverse direction to define the respective seals. The slots extend toward, but not to, the edges of the strip and define connecting portions between ends of the slot and the respective edges. The slots are equally spaced from one another in a longitudinal direction to define the respective seals.

Abstract:A thermally insulative fire block sheet having an elastomeric layer is provided which has a surface flammability flame spread index of zero at 20 minutes of exposure in accordance with ASTM E-162 and which is capable, in a thickness of 1/16 inch, of blocking a flame of 1900. degree. F. for more than an hour. The sheet comprises at least two layers. One layer, facing the direction of the expected flame, is a silicone foam rubber comprising the reaction product of a vinylterminated polysiloxane containing --Si(CH. sub. 3). sub. 2 O-- units and an organohydrogensiloxane polymer containing Si(H)(CH. sub. 3)O-- units. The silicone foam rubber also contains alumina trihydrate. The other layer is an adherent flame resistant support layer for said foam, preferably a glass cloth layer.
