Abstract:

An extruded multilayer seal member having an expanded temperature range and an improved compression set resistance wherein the seal member comprises a first fluoroelastomer as the inner layer of the multilayer seal member and a second elastomer as the outer layer of the multilayer seal member; and a method for manufacturing the multilayer seal member which comprises extruding a multilayer tubular structure, crosslinking the extruded multilayer tubular structure on a mandrel, cutting the multilayer tubular structure to provide a plurality of uniform seal members and recovering the seal members, are described.

Abstract:

A fuel impermeable, fuel resistant hose having improved high temperature resistant characteristics sufficient to provide extended service life of the hose in a harsh thermal environment comprising at least one fluoropolymer tubular structure, and a backing layer surrounding the at least one fluoropolymer tubular structure wherein the backing layer comprises at least one high temperature resistant elastomer selected from the group consisting of ethylene-acrylate elastomer, ethyl-vinyl acetate copolymer, acrylic rubber, and blends thereof, said backing layer exhibiting superior high temperature resistance compared to conventional backing layers. The hose optionally contains a reinforcement member around the at least one fluoropolymer tubular structure, and a high temperature-resistant cover over the reinforcement member.

Abstract:

A biofuel hose that resists degradation when exposed to biofuels such as ethanol, an ethanol-hydrocarbon blend, and biodiesel, etc. for prolonged periods of time. The hose has an inner tubular member formed from a vulcanizable, hydrogenated, α, β-unsaturated nitrile-C-Cconjugated diene copolymer rubber or a blend of a vulcanizable, hydrogenated, α, β-unsaturated nitrile-C-Cconjugated diene copolymer rubber with a compatible polymer; a backing member around the inner tubular member wherein the backing member is formed from a vulcanizable, a, 1-unsaturated nitrile-C-Cconjugated diene copolymer rubber or a blend of a vulcanizable, α, β-unsaturated nitrile-C-Cconjugated diene copolymer rubber with a compatible polymer; and an ozone-resistant protective cover forming an outer surface of the biofuel hose. Preferably, the multilayer, biofuel-compatible hose includes a reinforcement member disposed between the backing layer and the ozone-resistant protective cover.
