Abstract:

A perforated sheet is diffusion bonded to a thin solid sheet. Each of the perforations of the perforated sheet is tapered, having a maximum diameter at the surface that is not bonded to the thin sheet and a smaller diameter at the surface that is bonded to the thin sheet. The bonded perforated sheet and thin sheet are included with other solid metallic sheets in a forming pack to be superplastically deformed into a structure. The bonded perforated sheet and thin sheet are placed on the top of the forming pack so that the thin sheet will face outwards after the structure is formed. After the superplastic deformation process is completed, the thin sheet is removed by machining to expose the perforated sheet and provide a structure for controlling laminar flow over the perforated sheet. The exposed surface of the perforated sheet includes the smaller diameter of each tapered perforation, while the inner-facing or blind surface of the sheet includes the maximum diameter. The formed structure includes internal passageways.

Abstract:

There is disclosed a construction of golf clubs of the iron type having the capability of imparting better loft and directional stability to golf balls. This capability results from the manufacture of the golf irons with desirably low centers of gravity and a generally symmetrical weight distribution about the striking face. The method of manufacture comprises casting a head having a hozel, neck and body dependent thereon and providing the body with an open cavity in its face that extends from at least one edge thereof across a substantial portion of the face and to a first depth therein. Faceplate land grooves are formed along opposite edges of the cavity. A sheet metal plate having a thickness approximately equal to the depth of these grooves is formed with exterior dimensions to seat in the opposite land grooves of the cavity and is placed in the land grooves thereby closing the face to the cavity. The sheet metal plate is secured about its periphery to the head to form an interior cavity open along an edge surface, preferably the top edge, extending across a substantial area of the face of the head. Preferably, the plate is fused to the head by an electron fusion step to produce a homogenous head having an internal cavity.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a waste removal assembly used in conjunction with a sampling system which provides access to a sealed container. The assembly includes a lifting mechanism which moves a sample container against a hollow cleaning needle. The needle penetrates the stopper of the container, and its penetrating end moves into the container proximate the inside surface of the stopper. The assembly also includes a pump and tube arrangement in communication with the needle for removing or displacing entrapped serum or other debris from the bottom surface of the stopper and placing it in a waste container. After removing the debris from the container, the cleaning assembly vents the cleaned container to atmospheric pressure, and the sampling system performs sampling operations through a puncture tube which defines a temporary opening in the stopper of the container.

Abstract:

A server computing device can (1) managing a plurality of album artwork templates, wherein each album artwork template of the plurality of album artwork templates includes a plurality of entries, and each entry of the plurality of entries defines a respective manner by which a respective album artwork image is to be generated, (2) receiving, from a client device, a request for an album artwork image, wherein the request includes: a first identifier that corresponds to a particular image of an artist, a second identifier that corresponds to a particular album artwork template of the plurality of album artwork templates, and locale information that corresponds to a particular entry of the particular album artwork template, and (3) generating the album artwork image according to the respective manner defined by the particular entry, wherein the album artwork image is based at least in part on the particular image of the artist.
