NYSE's Owners Urge Niederauer to Get Higher Takeover Price
When rejecting the Nasdaq OMX-ICE offer, NYSE Euronexts board said the combination would face too many hurdles to win approval from antitrust regulators and would lead to the company having too much debt. Kenneth Steiner, who owns about 1,000 NYSE Euronext shares, said at todays meeting that the rival bid is too valuable to ignore.
I believe this merger is grossly unfair to shareholders, Kenneth Steiner, a shareholder who had proposed the special meetings proposal, said during the meeting. I believe those directors should be removed.
"This merger is grossly unfair to the shareholders," said Kenneth Steiner, who owns about 1,000 NYSE Euronext shares. "I voted against the directors, I believe they should be removed and replaced with those who can get us the appropriate value for our shares."
