Abstract:

A vibration absorber for tennis racquet strings includes a thin, flexible strip with a relatively massive donut shape member at either end. The device is weaved over and under the racquet main strings, so that the flexible strip contacts preferably between 4 and 6 of the center main strings, and the donut members engage, through a clamping groove, a pair of outlying strings. The device provides a good vibration dampening on the outer part of the string area, for dampening off center hits, whereas the center main strings remain lively and resilient.

Abstract:

A string for sports application, in particular for tennis, badminton, racquetball and squash racquets or the like comprises a center core and at least one ribbon-like wrap made of a highly abrasion resistant material which exhibits a higher melting point and at least one of a higher dynamic stiffness and a lower static stiffness than the core material. A preferred wrap material meeting the above criteria is poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide). The wrap should cover at least 25%, and preferably at least 50% of the center core's outer surface to reduce notching. Due to the reduced notching, superior combined properties of durability, playability and minimal loss of string tension are achieved.

Abstract:

A shelving system includes a horizontal polygonal base shelf assembly and a substantially identical horizontal top shelf assembly, a plurality of vertical support posts, and one or more intermediate shelf assemblies positioned between the top shelf assembly and the bottom shelf assembly. Each intermediate shelf assembly is supported by hanger brackets which are removably secured to the support posts. Each hanger bracket is provided with a locking clip for securing the intermediate shelf and the hanger bracket to the support posts. In this manner, each intermediate shelf assembly can be quickly installed and removed without the necessity of disassembling the other components of the shelving system, and the installed intermediate shelf can be securely mounted in the shelving system.

Abstract:

A modular shelving system includes active and fixed storage levels. The storage levels are removably supported from support posts and are disposed at intermediate positions between a top shelf assembly and a base shelf assembly. Each active storage level is secured to a pair of slide assemblies allowing such to be displaced from the shelving system to provide convenient access to items stored thereon. The support posts may be in the form of cylinders having an array of vertical slots for receiving mounting hardware for supporting shelves. Alternatively, support posts having longitudinal slots formed therein in combination with slotted-post inserts may be used to support the shelves. An anti-tip leg assembly can optionally be employed to provide increased stability.
