Abstract:
A resilient pavement marker for delineating lanes and shoulders of roadways which is not susceptible to the forces associated with plowing of the road or damage from environmental conditions. The marker incorporates an assembled unit which may be readily installed within the roadway including a base housing, a depressible piston which carries a detachable lens assembly, and a compressible biasing assembly to facilitate depression of the piston and return to its original position. The piston is retained within the housing by a cap cooperating with the base. The cap includes an opening which has a lobed or scalloped configuration adapted to cooperate with the scalloped configuration of the piston thereby preventing rotation of the piston within the housing. The lens assembly is removable from the piston to facilitate simple replacement of the reflective lenses without removal or disassembly of the marker. The compression assembly fills substantially the entire interior of the housing and includes closed-cell members to eliminate absorption of moisture and damage from freezing.
A fully interlocking roof shingle for installing a weather-proof roof on a building. The shingles are constructed of multiple layers to expose various interlocking grooves for connection to the contiguous shingle. The interlocking grooves have a dovetail configuration to ensure secure connection of the shingles to form a substantially integral roofing system. The individual shingles include a bottom plate with a plurality of grooves disposed upwardly and a top plate with a plurality of grooves disposed downwardly. The grooves of each plate mate to form the assembled roofing shingle exposing a decorative top surface and a base surface of the upper and lower plates respectively. The plates are assembled in an offset manner so as to expose upwardly disposed grooves along two edges and downwardly disposed grooves along the other two edges. As a result, the shingles may be assembled on the roof by interlocking the grooves of the shingles. Apertures for nailing the shingle to the roof are also formed in the shingle.
A method of manufacturing components such as vehicle wheels which include a polystyrene base molded in the general configuration of the ornamental face and a plastic coating molded to the base and mechanically secured thereto to prevent separation. The plastic overlay is moded to the base through a low-pressure injection molding process in order to maintain the integrity of the molded base. The plastic coating flows around portions of the base to provide secure attachment between the base and overlay. The method may be used to manufacture various automotive components including vehicle wheel covers, dams and spoilers.

NASA mulls Russian idea to cut staff at space station
Asked during a news conference about media reports that Russia was considering reducing its staff there to two, NASA's Kenneth Todd said the ISS partners -- which include Canada, Japan and the European Space Agency -- are aware of the proposal.
"From a station perspective, we could live in this state for quite a while, but the reality is if we were to have an additional failure in another channel, we probably would find ourselves a little more strapped," said Kenneth Todd, space station operations integration manager for NASA.

Nasa Delays Spacewalk to Saturday to Analyze Spacesuit
"That is the same area of concern we had back in 2013 when we had the issue of the water in the helmet," said Kenneth Todd, International Space Station operations and integration manager, in a briefing with reporters.
The visiting ships also will need docking targets, communications systems and other gear, all of which will be installed during seven spacewalks planned for this year, said station operations manager Kenneth Todd.
