  • Abstract:
Projectable sprinklers which rise automatically from the ground when water is supplied under pressure to the sprinklers, sprinkler heads, stationary sprinklers employing the sprinkler head of the present invention for use on the surface of the ground, and a lid apparatus for increasing the area wetted by a sprinkler head. The projectable sprinklers include a generally cylindrical housing closed at the bottom and sunken in the ground, a projectable float which floats upward within the housing when water is supplied under pressure to the sprinkler, and a sprinkler head including a rotating nozzle or nozzles attached to the top of the float. In one embodiment, the projectable sprinkler contains means for spreading chemicals over the surface of the ground. The sprinkler heads include means for pumping solutions or liquid mixtures of chemicals through the nozzle or nozzles of the sprinkler head, and may be used in a stationary or projectable sprinkler system. The stationary sprinklers include the sprinkler heads of the present invention and means for spreading chemicals over the surface wetted by the sprinkler.

  • Warm Air Diverter For Vehicles

    view source
  • US Patent:
    46154833, Oct 7, 1986
  • Filed:
    May 8, 1985
  • Appl. No.:
    6/731986
  • Inventors:
Kerney T. Sheets - Duplessis LA
  • International Classification:
    B60H 102
  • US Classification:
    237 123A
  • Abstract:
A warm air deflector which is connectable to the outside of the radiator housing of a vehicle in which air is blown in a forward direction over the radiator and out the front of radiator. It includes a curved front plate generally located on the upper half of the radiator and extending above the top of the radiator. The curved plate is generally concave with the concave portion facing toward the driver. Connected to each side of the curved plate are two parallel side walls having their inner edges generally parallel to the radiator of the vehicle and their outer edges terminating along the edge of the curved plate, the curved plate having a series of holes on the lower portion thereof and a slidable baffle for selectively covering the holes. The slidable baffle may be lowered to divert air into the diverter and back onto the operator or raised to allow air to flow through the radiator and through the holes in the curved plate without being diverted backward onto the driver.
  • Method And Apparatus For Controlling The Tension Of Drive Belts

  • US Patent:
    40685357, Jan 17, 1978
  • Filed:
    Nov 10, 1975
  • Appl. No.:
    5/630195
  • Inventors:
Kerney T. Sheets - Duplessis LA
  • International Classification:
    F16H 712
    F16H 710
  • US Classification:
    7424211A
  • Abstract:
A method and apparatus for controlling the tension of flexible drive belts, or a single drive belt, connecting a drive pulley to a driven pulley. The apparatus includes a first idler assembly for engaging the slack run of the drive belts, a second idler assembly for engaging the drive run of the drive belts, and a tension member for adjusting the distance between the first idler assembly and the second idler assembly to a distance sufficient to cause the apparatus to maintain a position between the drive pulley and the driven pulley. The apparatus requires no external support or positioning member to maintain the position of the apparatus on the belts while the apparatus is controlling the tension of the moving belts. The method includes placing a first idler assembly on the slack run of the drive belts, placing a second idler assembly on the drive run of the drive belts, and forcing the assemblies together to increase the tension of the drive belts.
