  • Combine Engine Output Controlled By Harvesting Assembly

    view source
  • US Patent:
    6397571, Jun 4, 2002
  • Filed:
    Feb 14, 2001
  • Appl. No.:
    09/783655
  • Inventors:
Kevin Laverne Ehrecke - Davenport IA
  • Assignee:
    Deere Company - Moline IL
  • International Classification:
    A01D 7528
  • US Classification:
    56 102R, 56DIG 15, 460 1
  • Abstract:
The combine of the present invention is provided with an internal combustion engine. An electronic engine controller is used to monitor and control the operation of the engine. The electronic engine controller stores at least two power curves for controlling the engine. The first power curve has a higher horsepower output than the second power curve. A harvesting assembly detector signals the electronic engine controller with a corn head signal if a corn head is mounted to the combine, or a grain platform signal if a grain platform is mounted to the combine. If a corn head is mounted to the combine the electronic engine controller derates the engine and works on the second power curve. If the electronic engine controller receives a grain platform signal, the electronic engine controller works on the higher horsepower first power curve.

    6/171858
  • Inventors:
Darryl F. Cain - East Moline IL
Kevin L. Ehrecke - Blue Grass IA
  • Assignee:
Deere & Company - Moline IL
  • International Classification:
    B60P 300
    B60P 708
    B61D 316
    B61D 4500
  • US Classification:
    410 44
  • Abstract:
A transporter or trailer for endwise transport of combine headers and the like, consists of a standard four-wheel wagon running gear carrying an elongated generally rectangular frame providing support surfaces compatible with a variety of sizes and types of header. A pair of longitudinally spaced fixed pockets at the left-hand side of the adapter frame receives heel portions adjacent the rear of headers of the corn head or row-crop head type while a somewhat elevated, swingably adjusted, rail may be set to an appropriate contact and support forward portions of a particular header. In alternative embodiments, an auxiliary laterally adjustable rail may support a second front portion of a header, or additional support "cradles" may be attached along the left-hand side of the frame to accommodate headers with elongated transverse beam members such as grain platforms.
  • Harvesting Platform With A Floating Cutterbar

    A01D 6700
  • US Classification:
    56 144
  • Abstract:
In a flexible floating cutterbar cutting platform for a combine harvester, compact spring elements connected to cutterbar suspension linkage subassemblies are remotely controlled for adjustment of cutterbar counterbalance force so that pressure between the ground and the cutterbar skid plates may be adjusted, on-the-go, to suit varying harvesting conditions. Pinned pivotable connection of the cutterbar suspension linkage subassemblies to the rigid portion of the platform facilitate assembly and offer an improved method of adjustment of cutterbar attitude relative to the ground (tilt) when in working position.
