Abstract:
The method and system of the present invention permit the efficient management of the display of a panoramic or wide-angle image on a display device in a data processing system. The panoramic image typically includes a number of segments wherein only a portion of those segments may be displayed on the display device at selected resolutions. The method and system of the present invention includes displaying a substantially circular icon, having a defined periphery. Each portion of the defined periphery corresponds to one or more of the segments making up the panoramic image. A moveable control element is displayed along a selected arc about the periphery. One or more of the segments of the panoramic image corresponding to each portion of the defined periphery within the selected arc may then be selected and is displayed on the display device by manipulating the position of the moveable control element.

Abstract:
A reusable script execution scheduling part for compound documents in a document-centric processing environment. Document-centric computing environments having architectures similar to OpenDoc. TM. include a technique for executing scripts to interact with the compound document content. The CHRON part of this invention includes embedded objects for defining scheduled execution times for one or more scripts that may be opened within the compound document to provide a view of its contents. Either the ScheduleTime element or the ScriptEvent element of the CHRON part may be opened and edited in place. The reusable CHRON part sets up event scheduling with the operating system so that specified scripts are run according to specified ScheduleTimes.
Time Domain Scroll Bar For Multimedia Presentations In A Data Processing System

International Classification:
G06T 100
US Classification:
395154
Abstract:
A method and system in a data processing system for efficiently managing the selection and/or presentation of a multimedia data set comprised of multiple topics. A display is provided for presenting a multimedia data set. A graphic control mechanism having multiple portions is presented within the display. Each of the portions of the graphic control mechanism is associated with a selected one of the multiple topics, and such an association is graphically displayed. A user is then permitted to select one of the multiple portions of the graphic control mechanism. In response to a user selection of one of the multiple portions, an associated one of the multiple topics is automatically presented.
Method And System For Accessing Associated Data Sets In A Multimedia Environment In A Data Processing System

Abstract:
A method and system in a data processing system for selectively associating stored data with an animated element within a multimedia presentation in a data processing system. At least one data set is created or identified within the data processing system. The data set is then associated within the data processing system with a selected animated element within the multimedia presentation. Thereafter, during the multimedia presentation, the existence of the data set and the association between the data set and the selected animated element is graphically indicated utilizing a rectangle surrounding the animated element, a blinking figure near the animated element or any other suitable graphic indicator. A user may elect to have the associated data set presented by selecting the additional graphic element associated with the specified animated element, or by selecting a "button" or other graphic indicator, during a specified period of time following the graphic indication.
Recirculating Network Address List With Single Button Sequencer/Selector

International Classification:
G06F15/57;13/38
US Classification:
709218
Abstract:
An improved method and system for selecting, retrieving and managing access to computer network locations. The method improves access to frequently utilized network locations by providing a recirculating list of network addresses selectable by a single user input. A user interface to the computer network can be accomplished utilizing a network browser in cooperation with a personal computer. The recirculating list of frequently utilized network locations is entered by the user into the system. The recirculating list has a selectable network location which is displayed to the user. The selectable network location can be requested and retrieved by a single user input such as selecting an icon which resides on a toolbar. The information or data associated with the selectable network location is automatically displayed in response to the user selecting the active URL of the recirculating list. The selectable network address can be accessed by a user in response to a single user input.

Abstract:
A method of accessing an electronic page on a computer system, by ascertaining that the electronic page is adapted to be displayed as a single window containing a plurality of frames (having fixed attributes), but then displaying separate windows for respective frames, and enabling one or more window operations for each of the windows, such as resizing, minimizing, maximizing, and closing each of the windows. The windowed frames can be displayed as child windows within a parent window on the display device, or in separate parent windows. The frame windowing mode can be toggled between active and inactive states. Initial attributes of the windows can be based on the frame attributes of the respective frames. These attributes can be ascertained by interpreting tags in a main computer file associated with the electronic page, e. g. , an HTML file which is downloaded over the World Wide Web.

US Classification:

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for printing related web pages allows a web user to select a web page, then print all of the related web pages based on a predetermined criteria. In a first embodiment, each web page includes an applet that is run on the web client system when a print button on the page is pressed. The client applet communicates with a print tool running on the server that parses the selected page and builds a list of related pages and allows the user to select which of the related pages will be printed. Once the user selects the pages to be printed, the print tool constructs a temporary web page that contains all the web pages the user selected. This temporary web page may then be printed using the standard print function supplied with the browser. In a second embodiment, a print utility in the web client allows a user to print related web pages by parsing a selected web page and building a list of related pages. The user may then select from a the list of related pages which pages to print.
Apparatus And Method In Hierarchy Of Internet Web Pages For Fast Return To A Network Page

International Classification:
G06F 1730
US Classification:
709217
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are disclosed in a network navigator for rapidly returning to a search engine network page while searching through a hierarchy of networked pages displayed within a computer system interface. Initially, a list of commonly utilized search engine network addresses is compiled. Next, a hierarchy of network addresses accessed by the network navigator during a network navigating session is compiled. Thereafter, the hierarchy of network addresses is scanned until a network address among the hierarchy of network addresses is identified that corresponds to a search engine network address listed in the list of commonly utilized search engine network addresses. Finally, the network navigator jumps to the network address corresponding to the search engine network address. In addition, the hierarchy of network addresses can be scanned until a network address among the hierarchy of network addresses is identified that correspond to a network address associated with a server other than a server associated with a network page currently displayed within the computer interface, and thereafter, the network navigator jumps to the network address associated with the server other than the server associated with the network page currently displayed within the computer interface.
