Abstract:

There is provided a method for use by a media processing device to provide commentary information in conjunction with content stored in media. In one embodiment, playback of the content by the media processing device is begun. The playback is then stopped at a first time to receive commentary information. The commentary information entered by a user of the media processing device is then received. Thereafter, synchronization data used for synchronizing the content with the commentary information for providing the commentary information at the first time is generated. Then, the commentary information and the synchronization data are stored in memory. For example, the commentary information and the synchronization data can be transmitted to and stored in a database having memory.

Abstract:

There is provided a method for associating metadata with content. According to one embodiment, the content is created for a scheduled event, where the metadata includes at least one metadata tag correlated to an event time period of the scheduled event. The method includes receiving content having a known time period. For example, the content can be a digital image, a video, or other data and the known time period can be a time period at which the content was created. The method further includes matching the known time period of the content with the event time period and determining the at least one metadata tag correlated to the event time period. The method further includes associating the at least one metadata tag with the content.

There is provided a wireless portable device for providing location-based data to a user in a defined geographical area including a plurality of points of interest, the wireless portable device comprising a wireless transmitter, a wireless receiver, and a display. The wireless transmitter can transmit location information to a wireless server over a wireless network. The wireless receiver can receive location-based data relating to a point of interest from the wireless server periodically and automatically, based on the location of the wireless portable device. By optimizing map routes and schedules using the location-based data and user preferences including wish lists, the wireless portable device can provide helpful recommendations via the display, enabling the user to plan an efficient schedule of activities in the defined geographical area optimized by walking distance, queue wait times, booking and arriving at reserved events, and/or by other user preferences.

Abstract:

An interactive entertainment system using radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to allow participants to communicate user input to the system. The system includes an interactive station including an RFID reader and wireless communication devices that each has a user input portion operable by a user. Each communication device includes an RFID assembly that operates to broadcast to the RFID reader tag data, which is selectable by a user by operating the user input portion. The RFID assembly may use passive RFID tags that are activated or operable in response to user input such as pressing a button associated with an RFID tags, which causes the RFID tag to be read by the RFID reader to obtain a button ID. The RFID assembly may include an active RFID tag and a computing device that selectively modifies tag memory based on user input to communicate user messages to the RFID reader.

Abstract:

A realistic roller coaster simulator is disclosed having one or more passenger seats equipped with a safety harness and mounted for 360 degree rotational movement along at least two axes for simulating the motion of a roller coaster. A controller is provided for controlling and coordinating the motion of the simulator with a simulation controller which generates to the passenger synchronized audio and visual effects which would be experienced by a passenger on a roller coaster of a predetermined design. Linked to the simulator is a design station where a passenger can design his or her own roller coaster. Upon entering the simulator station, the passenger's design can be accessed from memory and selected for simulation on the simulator vehicle. Upon initiation of the simulation, the passenger can experience in real time the visual, motive, audible and other effects (such as wind, heat, cold, water, etc. ) of the simulated roller coaster ride which the passenger has designed.
