Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a control that upon detection of an autothread input determines the amount of time which a motor of a drive assembly should be activated so as to precisely supply an initial segment of wire to a welding gun of a welding system. The control determines the requisite time necessary to precisely thread the welding wire based on a wire feed speed and gun length. The gun length and wire feed speed may be determined from a series of user inputs or read from memory. By limiting user involvement with the actual “feeding” of wire to the welding gun, a more precise segment of welding wire may be fed to the welding gun such that trimming of wire extending past the tip of the welding gun is not needed.

Abstract:
Methods and systems are disclosed for utilizing metal cored welding wire electrodes with forced movement of the electrode and arc. The electrode may be moved by a motion control assembly in a welding torch. The arc is established only between the sheath of the metal cored welding wire and the workpiece (or weld puddle), providing a unique transfer mode for enhanced deposition, travel speeds, and other weld and process characteristics.
A system for protecting a climbing device from contacting a wall includes a barrier device defining an eyelet, an anchor anchored to the wall, and a cord. The barrier device is configured to wrap around the climbing device such that the barrier device extends between climbing device and the wall and forms a sleeve that encircles the climbing device. The barrier device protects the climbing device from the wall. The cord extends through the eyelet and is coupled to the barrier device and the anchor such that the barrier device is anchored to the wall and in a desired position relative to the wall. The barrier device is configured to move relative to the climbing device, and the cord limits movement of the barrier device relative to the climbing device.
