Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to an attachment interface for a handheld power tool having an elongated housing and a rotary output shaft, the interface comprising a nose portion having a generally cylindrically shaped wall extending in the direction of the center axis to a flat annular surface, a plurality of screw threads formed in an outer surface of the wall configured to have an attachment device with a screw threaded collar mounted on the interface, and a first plurality of keys formed in an inner surface of the wall configured to receive have an attachment device with a second plurality of complementary keys, the engaged keys preventing rotation of the attachment device when the attachment device is mounted on the interface.
A detachable operating handle for an elongated handheld portable power tool with a nose portion having an output shaft and a slidable operating switch having an outer recess and being configured to slide between on and off positions, the handle comprising a housing configured to cooperatively mate with the power tool housing and be attached at least to the nose portion of the power tool, the housing having an elongated handle portion, a trigger located in the bottom of the handle portion positioned to be moved between depressed and rest positions by a user's finger while holding the handle portion, a linkage mechanism for interconnecting the trigger and the switch, and the linkage mechanism having a lockout mechanism for preventing the trigger from moving the switch when the lockout mechanism is in a locked position and permitting the trigger to move the switch when in a release position.

Abstract:
The present invention is a method and device for a hand power tool which includes a housing, a storage compartment within the housing, a wrench for manipulating a collet bit attachment structure, a portion of the wrench sized to fit within the storage compartment, a first spring extending into the storage cavity and positioned to bias the portion of the wrench against an inner wall of the storage compartment and a protuberance positioned on the housing, such that when the portion of the wrench is partially within the cavity, the protuberance causes a first misalignment between the longitudinal axis of the storage compartment and the longitudinal axis of the wrench and when the portion of the wrench is fully within the cavity, the protuberance does not cause a misalignment between the longitudinal axis of the storage compartment and the longitudinal axis of the wrench as large as the first misalignment.
