The present invention relates to an elevator system for use during an emergency. The elevator system comprises two elevator shafts constructed adjacent to each other. Each elevator shaft houses an elevator car. The elevator system operates without the use of a building's power source by incorporating a primary pulley system to move the elevator cars. Generally, the elevator cars work in tandem such that as one elevator car goes up its respective elevator shaft, the other elevator car will go down its respective elevator shaft. Moreover, a secondary pulley system and a gear system are employed to also facilitate movement of the elevator cars without using the building's power supply.
A universal lock and key assembly in which the lock is re-keyable and the key is also changeable. The key has a shank portion having a longitudinally extending tooth slot in its top surface. A plurality of teeth have their bottom ends inserted into the tooth slot in any desired sequence to give a predetermined profile to the teeth of the key. The bottom pin cylinder of the lock has mating bottom pins for each of the respective teeth. These are then arranged in a coordinated sequence in the bottom pin cylinder of the lock. The structure of the system allows an individual to change both the configuration of the key and also the mating structure within the lock so it will be operable.
A universal lock and key assembly in which the lock is re-keyable and the key is also changeable. The key has an elongated left side member, an elongated right side member, and an elongated central member. A plurality of key teeth are captured between the shank portions of the left and right side members. The key teeth are interchangeable so that any desired sequence can be arranged to give a predetermined profile to the key. The universal lock has a combination top pin housing and tubular sleeve assembly having a top pin housing and a tubular sleeve portion. A bottom pin cylinder is removably received in the tubular sleeve portion and its bottom pins can be removed and replaced in an order that mates with the key teeth of the key assembly. The structure of the system allows an individual to change both the configuration of the key and also the mating structure within the lock so that it will be operable.
