A universal tinting concentrate for both solvent- and water-based paints and coatings. The universal tinting concentrate is a composition which includes a colorant component, such as pigment, colorant, tinting agent and/or metal effect agent; a pigment dispersant including a moiety selected from the group consisting of an organic acid, anhydride, salt thereof, and derivative thereof, wherein the dispersant facilitates the dispersal of the colorant component in organic-based and aqueous-based vehicles; and a pH-neutralizing agent. In one embodiment of the invention, the pigment dispersant is represented by the following structure: where r and s are integers and r+s is 6 to 16; x and y are integers and x+y is 0 to 19; Z is H or COOH; and Zâ is H or COOH.
Coating compositions containing coalescents and a latex polymer, wherein the coalescent has a volatile organic content of less than about 50% and is dispersible in the coating composition.

Abstract:
A low viscosity blocked isocyanate solution can be made by reacting together a polymeric isocyanato compound and propylene glycol, or a polymeric primary or secondary amine and propyl carbonate. The resulting beta-hydroxypropyl urethane polymer can be combined with propylene glycol monomethyl ether as a reducing solvent to form a pourable high-solids solution with good flow properties at room temperature. The solution has lower viscosity than is obtained using ethylene glycol as a blocking agent or using several non-HAPS reducing solvents that are similar to propylene glycol monomethyl ether. The solution can readily be combined with electrodepositable paint ingredients to form a curable coating composition.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a coating composition, and coated substrates and articles. The coating composition includes a binder containing a polyester resin that is formed using at least one aromatic, dicarboxylic acid and at least one asymmetric diol. The present invention also provides coating compositions that may be used on articles where excellent outdoor durability is desired. A method of coating and fabricating a substrate is also included.
Coating compositions containing coalescents and a latex polymer, wherein the coalescent has a volatile organic content of less than about 50% and is dispersible in the coating composition.
A method for coloring powders using a stable colorant dispersion is provided. The method includes mixing a base powder and a stable colorant dispersion. A colored powder composition baying a core particle and a partial shell about the core particle is provided.
Coating Composition With Accelerated Low Temperature Cure
A coating composition including an unsaturated resin selected from polyesters, alkyds or combinations thereof; an alkoxy(meth)acrylic functional monomer, and a thermoplastic compound containing active hydrogen groups; a curing agent; and a curing promoter such as at least one metal drier.

Abstract:
The bottom of a cement fiberboard article is coated by conveying the article across a gap between a first conveyor and second conveyer and applying a liquid radiation-curable coating system to at least the bottom surface of the article while the article passes over the gap. The coating system is radiation-cured to at least a reduced tack state before the coated surface contacts the second conveyor.
