US Classification:

Abstract:
Adsorbents and methods for the adsorptive separation of meta-xylene from a mixture containing at least one other Caromatic hydrocarbon (e. g. , a mixture of ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, para-xylene, and ethylbenzene) are described. Suitable adsorbents comprise sodium zeolite Y having an average crystallite size from about 50 to about 700 nanometers. The adsorbents provide improved separation efficiency, which may be associated with a higher meta-xylene mass transfer rate and/or other beneficial effects. Exemplary desorbents for use in the process may comprise toluene, benzene, or indan.

Abstract:
A series of crystalline aluminosilicate compositions have been prepared. These compositions have a layered structure and are identified as UZM-13, UZM-17 and UZM-19. Upon calcination at a temperature of about 400 C. to about 600 C., these compositions form a microporous crystalline zeolite with a three dimensional framework which has been identified as UZM-25. A process for preparing all these compositions and processes for using these compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract:
A family of crystalline aluminosilicate zeolites designated UZM-8HS and derived from UZM-8 have been synthesized. The aluminum content of the UZM-8HS is lower than that of the starting UZM-8 thus changing its ion exchange capacity and acidity. These UZM-8HS are represented by the empirical formula: MAlESiOand are prepared by treatments such as acid extraction and AFS treatments.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) containing polymer-functionalized low acidity, ultra low silica-to-alumina ratio, nano-sized SAPO-34 small pore molecular sieves and a continuous polymer matrix and methods for making and using these membranes. The surface functionalization of these molecular sieves provides a desired interfacial adhesion between SAPO-34 nano-particles and the continuous polymer matrix, which results in either no macrovoids or voids of less than 5 angstroms at the interface of the continuous polymer matrix and SAPO-34 in the MMMs. These MMMs, in the form of symmetric dense film, asymmetric flat sheet membrane, or asymmetric hollow fiber membranes, have good flexibility and high mechanical strength, and exhibit remarkably enhanced COpermeability (or COpermeance) and maintained CO/CHselectivity over the continuous polymer matrices for CO/CHseparation. The MMMs of the present invention are suitable for a variety of liquid, gas, and vapor.
High Charge Density Metallophosphate Molecular Sieves

A new family of highly charged crystalline microporous metallophosphate molecular sieves has been synthesized. These metallophosphates are represented by the empirical formula of:where A is an alkali metal cation, R is at least one quaternary organoammonium cation, M is a divalent metal such as zinc and E is a trivalent framework element such as aluminum or gallium. This family of high charge density metallophosphate materials are among the first metalloalumino(gallo)phosphate-type molecular sieves to be stabilized by combinations of alkali and quaternary organoammonium cations, enabling unique compositions. This family of high charge density metallophosphate molecular sieves has catalytic properties for carrying out various hydrocarbon conversion processes and separation properties for separating at least one component.

A catalyst composition comprising a support comprising a mixture of amorphous silica-alumina and non-zeolitic alumina comprising no more than 75 wt % amorphous silica-alumina and having a ratio of moles of silicon to moles of aluminum in the range of about 0.05 to about 0.50. A first hydrogenation metal comprising platinum, a second hydrogenation metal from Group VIIB or Group VIII of the Periodic Table other than platinum and an optional third metal from Group IA of the Periodic Table may be deposited on the support. The ratio of moles of silicon to the moles of the first hydrogenation metal, the second hydrogenation metal and the optional third metal on the support may be between about 15 and about 75.
A new crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite comprising a MTT framework has been synthesized that has been designated UZM-53. This zeolite is represented by the empirical formula:where M represents sodium, potassium or a combination of sodium and potassium cations, R is the organic structure directing agent or agents derived from reactants R1 and R2 where R1 is diisopropanolamine and R2 is a chelating diamine, and E is an element selected from the group consisting of gallium, iron, boron and mixtures thereof. Catalysts made from UZM-53 have utility in various hydrocarbon conversion reactions such as oligomerization.
