  • US Classification:
    206386
  • Abstract:
A palletized structure for containing a plurality of wire spools or pails containing wire is disclosed. The palletized structure includes a formed cap structure with an integrally formed beam structure which preserves the rigidity of the cap structure when the palletized structure is subjected to motion and shock forces normally encountered in loading, shipping or storage of wire spools or pails. The cap structure retains the relative position of the spools or pails within the palletized structure.

  • Pallet For Shipping And De-Spooling Electrical Wire

    view source
  • US Patent:
    59749814, Nov 2, 1999
  • Filed:
    Nov 10, 1997
  • Appl. No.:
    8/967633
  • Inventors:
Louis G. Ditton - Fort Wayne IN
  • Assignee:
Essex Group, Inc. - Fort Wayne IN
  • International Classification:
    B65D 1944
  • US Classification:
    108 553
  • Abstract:
A pallet assembly for transporting and de-spooling electrical wire packaged in different forms (on reels or in boxes and pails) is disclosed. The pallet assembly comprises a base and a first layer cover. The base has a number of depressions formed in its top surface, each capable of receiving packages having different cross sectional profiles (circular, square, rectangular, etc. ). The first layer cover has a number of locator bosses extending downward from its bottom surface. While being shipped, the packages are secured in the depressions on the top surface of the base, and the first layer cover is disposed above the packages so that the locator bosses engage the packages. In addition, the pallet assembly may contain tubular shrouds for de-spooling wire reels directly off the pallet. All components of the pallet assembly are made from a thermoplastic material and are reusable.

  • US Patent:
    45821984, Apr 15, 1986
  • Filed:
    Feb 19, 1985
  • Appl. No.:
    6/703232
  • Inventors:
Louis G. Ditton - Fort Wayne IN
  • Assignee:
Essex Group, Inc. - Fort Wayne IN
  • International Classification:
    B65D 8567
  • US Classification:
    206395
  • Abstract:
In a wire shipping and dispensing package comprising a wire-carrying spool disposed vertically in a generally rectangular carton having side and end walls extending upwardly from a substantially square bottom section to define a substantially square open top, the lower end portion of the carton is adapted to frictionally fit within the upper end portion of a substantially identical carton disposed therebelow. A pad sheet is removably secured in the open top of the carton in engagement with the rim of an upwardly cupped upper end flange of the spool and provides a seating surface for the bottom section of a substantially identical carton disposed thereabove with its lower end portion fitted into the upper end portion of the lower carton. The pad sheet has a central opening therein providing access to handle means affixed to the spool and located within the confines of the upper end flange for manual lifting and transport of the spool by the handle means while the carton is retained on the spool by the pad sheet.
