  • Assignee:
ADS, The Power Resource, Inc. - Dallas TX
  • International Classification:
    A47B 4700
  • US Classification:
    3122653
  • Abstract:
An electronics cabinet (12) has a welded frame (46) formed of sections of metal sheet which define a top (14), a base (16) and four corner posts (18). Two of the sections of metal sheet are formed into a pan-like configurations to define the top (14) and the base (16). Four of the sections of meal sheet are formed to define the four corner posts (18), each having a long side (144) and a short side (146) which are perpendicular. The longer sides (144) of the corner posts (18) are aligned parallel to a depth of the cabinet (12). Lengths of the four corner posts (18) extend for the height of the cabinet (12), with end portions (78) of the corner posts (18) overlapping and fitting flush against the outer sides (62, 64) of respective ones of the corners (15, 17) of the top (14) and base (16). The top (14) and the base (16) have corner openings defined by apertures (80) and by slots (120) which extend through the sidewalls(62, 64) adjacent to end portions (78) of the corner posts (18) which overlap the top (14) and the base (16). The openings defined by the apertures (80) are plug welded to the corner post (18).

  • US Patent:
    60756985, Jun 13, 2000
  • Filed:
    Oct 27, 1998
  • Appl. No.:
    9/179785
  • Inventors:
Gerald Michael Hogan - Mesquite TX
Steven Jeffery Marzec - Dallas TX
Lyle James Ratner - Dallas TX
  • Assignee:
ADS, The Power Resource, Inc. - Dallas TX
  • International Classification:
    H05K 720
  • US Classification:
    361695
  • Abstract:
A rack mounted rectifier has a cooling fan module which is removable and replaceable in the field for servicing the rectifier when a cooling fan failure occurs. The rack mounted rectifier module includes a rectifier unit, a housing, DC output contacts, AC input contacts, and a data signal connector. The cooling fan module has a mounting bracket, a cooling fan unit which is secured to the mounting bracket, and a cooling fan connector which is mounted to the mounted bracket and electrically connected to the cooling fan motor. The housing of the rectifier unit has a socket for receiving the cooling fan module and a mating cooling fan connector for engaging the cooling fan connector to electrically connect the cooling fan unit to electric power when the cooling fan module is fully inserted within the socket. The socket for receiving the cooling fan module is open on a side of the housing of an exterior portion of the rectifier module, and is located for removing the cooling fan module only after the housing which has been partially removed from within the rectifier cabinet. The socket is located in the housing such that the cooling fan module cannot be removed from the housing until the rectifier module is at least partially removed from the enclosed space, such that the DC output contacts and the AC input contacts of the rectifier module are disconnected from mating contacts of the rectifier cabinet.

  • International Classification:
    H05K 700
  • US Classification:
    361733
  • Abstract:
An interconnect for engaging a rectifier module with a rectifier cabinet has a first portion which includes AC output contacts, DC input contacts, a cabinet data signal connector and sidewalls which define an enclosed space of the rectifier cabinet. A second portion of the interconnect includes DC output contacts, AC input contacts, a module pin data signal connector and a housing which encloses a rectifier unit. A guide member is mounted to one of the first and second portions of the interconnect. A guide member hole is included with the other of the first and second portions of the interconnect for engaging with the guide member to align the first portion of the interconnect with the second portion of the interconnect. A pair of guide pins are mounted to one of the data signal connectors for engaging within sockets of the other of the data signals connectors for aligning the data signal connectors. One of the data signal connectors is moveably attached to a respective one of the rectifier module housing and the rectifier cabinet for moving to matingly engage with the other of the data signal connectors.
