Abstract:
An apparatus for non-destructively testing concrete comprises a tri-wheel platform having a transducer mounted adjacent each wheel and mechanically coupled to the concrete to be responsive to vibration. An aperture is formed in the center of the platform equispaced from the three transducers. Vibrations are imparted to the concrete that emanate outwardly toward the transducers by manually striking the concrete through the center aperture with a rubber tipped impact rod. The transducers generate electrical signals responsive to the amplitudes of detected vibrations which are a function of the structural continuity of the concrete. Electronic circuitry monitors the outputs of the transducers and makes comparisons of the signals to determine whether a flaw exists in the concrete within the region bounded by the three transducers.
A fishing rod holder is described for supporting a fishing rod and automatically lifting the rod in response to pulling motion on the fishing line carried by the fishing rod. The apparatus includes a hinged tubular receiver for receiving the handle of a fishing rod, an upright stand, a spring connected between the tubular receiver and the stand, an arm which extends forwardly of the stand, a latch attached to the tubular receiver, and a trigger carried on the arm and engaging the latch on the tubular receiver. The sensitivity of the trigger can be adjusted.
A vertically adjustable stand for supporting a fishing rod holder. The stand including an elongated strip member and two elongated leg members. The elongated strip member having a top ledge and a bottom lip. The leg members slidably received in openings in the bottom lip. A movement sensitive alarm in combination with a vertically adjustable stand.
A mounting device is described which includes a channel having a top and spaced-apart sides. Registering openings are present in the sides. A key having elongated prongs is slidably received in the openings. The mounting device is useful in mounting a variety of objects (e. g. , a fishing rod holder) to a desired substrate (e. g. , a cleat, a rail, a block, etc. ).
A holder for a fishing rod that has a rearward rod handle support, a forward rod handle support, and a frame upon which the supports are mounted. The forward rod handle support has a first and second finger mounted for pivotal movement of their tips toward each other when a downward force is applied to a cable connecting the bottom end portions of the fingers. Also, a holder having a frame with a pair of rails, and downwardly depending legs secured to the rails. Additionally a holder with a frame and further including audible and visual alarms for making a signal when a fish strikes the line. Various types of stands are disclosed for supporting fishing rod holders.
In processes for making carbon black from automobile tires containing fiberglass, or the like, a mat of fiberglass strands intertwined with carbon black trapped in the interstices thereof can be produced. The present invention discloses method and apparatus of producing useful fiberglass and carbon black from such mats. Rapid agitation breaks the mat into a cloud of fine fiberglass particles and free carbon black. A low velocity airstream carries the particles to a separation zone wherein the free carbon black is filtered from the airstream as a first useful by-product. The fiberglass particles are then combusted to remove remaining carbon black carried therewith thus forming a second useful by-product.

Abstract:
A volumetric filtering device is provided for use in a liquid level measuring apparatus. The device includes a communicating passageway between a first container for the liquid and a second container in which the measurement is to be made. The communicating passageway is provided with a first opening to the first container and a second opening to the second container, the first opening being located at a higher vertical displacement than the second opening. The described filter prevents passage of suspended particles, sediments, solids and other precipitants, as well as the passage of air bubbles, from the first container to the second container. The filter structure is also useful to prevent passage of a buoyant liquid, floating in a layer above the liquid to be measured, from the first to the second container. The passageway is volumetrically chosen to assure that none of the buoyant liquid will pass therethrough. A further vertical tubular component is provided to reduce the volumetric requirements of the communicating passageway.
