A disposable bandage for covering a wound area of a skin surface includes a self adhesive first fastener portion and a second fastener portion, a dome having a generally rectilinear shape and constructed from a thin rigid material, the dome being coupled to the first fastener portion along one edge and coupled to the second fastener portion along a second edge. The dome includes pleats that extend across the dome shape from the top edge to the bottom edge of the dome. A gasket is formed of a stretchable material and extends around the underside of the dome. The gasket is held in contact with the skin surface when the first fastener portion and the second fastener portion are pressed to a user's skin and, when the first fastener portion and the second fastener portion are moved away from each other, the pleats are unfolded and the gasket material is stretched and remains in contact with the skin surface.
A cleaning apparatus for a body piercing includes an elongated applicator having a substantially rigid proximal end, a treatment to be applied to the applicator, and a grip through which the applicator proximal end extends. The grip is used to guide the applicator proximal end into one side of the body piercing and out the other side, and the proximal end of the applicator is pulled from the grip through the body piercing. As the applicator is pulled from the grip and through the body piercing, the treatment is applied to the applicator and then to the body piercing. The body piercing is thereby cleansed and treated. The applicator is packaged to remain sterile until use and the cleaning apparatus is easily carried about.
A piercing hygiene apparatus for a body piercing includes a rod having a diameter sized to maintain a piercing open when the rod is inserted into a body piercing channel, a removable head at one end of the rod and a fastener that can be removably attached at the opposite end of the rod. The head and fastener are sized such that they prevent the rod from falling out of the piercing channel when both are attached to the rod. The rod includes raised surfaces that extend outwardly along substantially the length of the rod such that an open space is created between the raised surfaces and the body piercing channel such that a passive airflow is generated by a temperature gradient between the body piercing channel surface and the ambient air temperature.

An airflow treatment system is worn or carried by a user and irradiates an air flow with energy in the electromagnetic spectrum, such as UV light, before the air is inhaled by the user. The irradiated energy is of sufficient power and duration to substantially cleanse the air of airborne viruses and the like prior to inhalation. The system includes a light source with a power supply to generate the energy for irradiation. A face mask is worn by the individual so that outside air is drawn into the system, and the airflow passes through a airflow treatment chamber before it is inhaled by the user. The airflow is irradiated by the energy, such as UV light, while passing through the airflow treatment chamber such that airborne virus microorganisms in the airflow are substantially destroyed or rendered unharmful before the airflow is inhaled by the user.

Abstract:
A packaging material comprised of a gas-impermeable base layer, an indicator layer, and a gas-impermeable top layer is disclosed. The top layer is selected to rupture upon experiencing an impingement or impact that exceeds a predetermined threshold. The indicator layer is configured to change visual appearance upon exposure to ambient air. The top layer further may be configured into a plurality of cells, with each cell filled with a gas that is inert with respect to the indicator layer. The cells may be of a size and shape configured to indicate the location and shape of an impingement or impact, to alert a recipient of an item protected by the packaging material of an area that may require further inspection.
