Abstract:
A computer implemented method for managing parts used by different types of computer aided design systems. A master model of a part may be created. The master model is independent of a format used by the different types of computer aided design systems to handle parts. A view of the master model is created to form a geometric view in response to a request to distribute the part. The geometric view comprises parametric information about the part and dimension information for the part. A specific part model usable by the selected type of computer aided design system is created from the content stored in the storage system in response to a request for the part for use by a selected type of computer aided design system. The instance of the part is sent to the selected type of computer aided design system.

Abstract:
A method of maintaining data described in a plurality of data models. An ontology is used to describe the data models. The data models are managed using the ontology and using a validation schema to validate object(s) governed by the ontology and derived from data-centric component(s) of content that has a semantically independent structure. Management of the data models is neutral relative to implementation of the content.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for identifying information for a product. User input selecting a proxy object in a product design on a computer system is received. The proxy object refers to a number of product standards used in the product design and is associated with a component in the product design. A role of a user is identified. A request for standards information for the component is sent to an interpreter module. The role of the user is included in the request. The standards information is received in a format based on the role of the operator such that the standards information is displayed in the computer system.

Abstract:
A computer-implemented system and method for obtaining product related information. Information related to a product obtained from a plurality of different sources is transformed into processed product data with a plurality of levels. Callouts and contexts are identified in the processed product data. A product-to-chemical continuum is generated by creating callout-context pathway segments between the plurality of levels of the processed product data based on the callouts and contexts identified. A query request for product information is transformed into a set of context search parameters, which is used to traverse the product-to-chemical continuum through the callout-context pathway segments that span the plurality of levels. The product information that matches the set of context search parameters is extracted from the product-to-chemical continuum. The callout-context pathway segments reduce processing resources and time needed to obtain the product information.
