Abstract:

A tool holder is disclosed having a body adapted to be rotatably driven about an axis. The body includes an axial bore at one end which is adapted to receive the cylindrical shank of a cutting tool. A radial bore in the body receives a threaded fastener which, upon tightening, abuts against the cutting tool shank to secure the shank to the tool holder body. A pair of alignment members are adjustably secured to the body and each alignment member has an alignment surface which is substantially tangent to the axial bore whereas each alignment member is shaped so that the radial distance between the alignment surface on the alignment member and the axis of the tool holder varies in dependence upon the position of the alignment member. Adjustment of the alignment members and fastener centers the cutting tool to the tool holder.

Abstract:

A fuel vapor recovery system for an automotive vehicle includes a fuel tank, a first vapor recovery canister, a second vapor recovery canister, and a bypass flow metering element. The first canister has an inlet communicating directly with the fuel tank and an outlet. The second canister has an inlet communicating directly with the outlet of the first canister. The bypass flow metering element is disposed between the inlet and outlet of the first canister and directs a predetermined portion of the vapor from the tank directly to the inlet of the second canister, thereby reducing the vapor flow restriction through the system.

Abstract:

A unique boring bar is disclosed which comprises a body having a generally radially extending formed through it at one end. A slide member is axially slidably positioned within the body throughbore and a standard cutting tool is secured to the slide member. In addition, one end of the slide member is externally threaded and threadably cooperates with an annular dial. The dial is locked against axial movement with respect to the body so that rotation of the dial axially displaces the slide member with its attached cutting tool.

Abstract:

Method and apparatus are disclosed for injection molding an article having at least one sub-surface portion. The apparatus includes an article mold having at least one cavity with a wedge-receiving aperture and a wedge insertable within the wedge-receiving aperture for receiving the sub-surface portion of the article. The wedge is movable between a wedged position, wherein the wedge is firmly seated within the wedge-receiving aperture and an unwedged position, wherein the wedge is movable with respect to the article mold to free the sub-surface portion of the article when ejecting the article from the cavity. The sub-surface portion of the article can include a part to be held within the cavity during injection molding, or an injection molded portion of the article forming a normally die locked portion of the article. The apparatus can also include a multi-piece mold cavity removably engageable within aligned apertures of a separable mold base. The multi-piece mold cavity includes tapered sidewalls for self aligning engagement with the sidewalls of the apertures in the mold base.

Abstract:

A boring bar is disclosed having an elongated body adapted to be rotatably driven around a predetermined axis. A longitudinally extending bore is open to at least one end of the body and has an axis which intersects the body axis at an acute angle. A cutting tool has an elongated shank with a cutting edge at one end while the other end of the shank is slidably received within the bore so that the radial displacement of the cutting edge with respect to the cutting axis is directly proportional to the longitudinal position of the shank within the body bore. A nut threadably secured to the body engages a radially extending pin secured to the shank in order to adjust the longitudinal position of the shank within the bore.

Abstract:

The present invention is a retaining system for an automotive carpet, such as a floor mat. The system consists of a tapered pin; and two washers. The assembly process consists of snap-fitting a first washer over a separate decorative pin, or a tapered pin. The second washer is then snap-fitted into an annular channel formed between two tabs on the first washer. The completed assembly then secures an automotive carpet at an appropriate location.

Abstract:

A bottom face mill having an elongated body that has a pair of clamping jaws formed on the front end thereof. The clamping jaws are spaced apart by a V-shaped notch which terminates at its inner end at the front end of a transverse, longitudinally extended slot. A triangular cutting tool is held in the V-shaped notch by a pair of retaining pins and a clamping screw which forces the clamping jaws into a releasable clamping engagement with the triangular cutting tool.
