Abstract:
A circuit that includes a filter and a DC bus is provided that reduces the potential for failure of a second capacitor of the filter in the event a first capacitor shorts. The filter is electrically connected across the DC bus and includes serially connected capacitors and a capacitor fuse electrically connected in series with the capacitors. The capacitor fuse is adapted to open in the event a first capacitor of the series shorts in order to prevent failure of a second capacitor of the series. In one embodiment of the invention, a static power converter includes a pair of serially connected capacitors having a DC bus fuse serially connected therewith. In another embodiment of the invention, a filter connected across a DC bus includes a plurality of capacitor legs that each include a capacitor fuse serially connected to a plurality of serially connected capacitors.
Device User-Control-Interface With A Detachable Display
A coupling node for regulating the current flow between two or more drives is described. The coupling node may include an interconnect circuit in communication with the drives for selectively opening the connection between the drives. A sensor circuit in communication with the drives measures one or more electrical properties of the drives or between the drives. A sensor circuit actuates the interconnect circuit in response to the measured electrical property of the two or more drives meeting predetermined criteria. In operation, when an electrical property of the drives, such as the current flowing between the drives, meets a predetermined criteria, such as an short circuit or current overload, as indicated by the sensor circuit, the controller actuates the interconnect circuit to open the connection between the drives.

Abstract:
A portable diagnostic module may use a standardized physical interface to connect to a series of sensors. The module can be configured to accept different types of sensor outputs, and to collect the sensed data for use in local or networked analysis to help identify errors and faults before they occur.
A method for restarting a motor of a submersible pump after a power interruption is disclosed. The system first detects when the power is turned back on to the system. A control means then samples signals sent back from the unpowered motor and determines the frequency and phase sequence of the signals. The speed and direction of operation of the motor are then determined from the determined frequency and phase sequence. A first pulse width modulation waveform is then applied to the motor matching the determined speed and direction of the motor. Finally, the output frequency of the waveform can be adjusted to adjust the speed and direction of operation of the motor until the motor reaches a desired speed and direction of operation.
Voltage Optimization Technique For A Permanent Magnet Motor Used In An Electric Submersible Pump
A method for controlling a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor in an ESP application is provided. A load angle of the PM motor is estimated. A voltage adjustment value is determined for the PM motor based at least on the estimated load angle of the PM motor. A voltage to be applied to the PM motor is determined based on the voltage adjustment value.

Abstract:
A demand-based load balancing function may be provided by one or more drive controllers that takes advantage of the affinity laws to linearize the control of the variable of interest (e.g., flow, pressure, etc.). Each drive controller may be set up by the user simply inputting a few values into the drive controller. Based on the inputs, the drive controllers may interpolate control points using an assumed linear relationship between the variable to be controlled (e.g., pressure) and the current driven to the pump. Feedback data from the system may be used to continually update the drive controllers so as to potentially allow them to better balance power usage to each pump.

Abstract:
Present embodiments of the disclosure are directed to a zero-footprint charging station for use with vehicles having quick-charge batteries. The disclosed embodiments enable the “quick-charge” power conversion equipment to disappear entirely into a passenger station structure. The passenger station structure may include a structural component of a bus stop (or other vehicle station) that is designed to accommodate passengers waiting to board the bus (or other transportation vehicle). By housing the power conversion electronics within a larger structure that serves a purpose at the vehicle station, the system may enable larger amounts of power electronics to be incorporated into a relatively strong and stable structure conforming to a desired size for the area (e.g., bus stop).
