Abstract:

Described is an adhesive clip including a back sheet with a first layer of removable pressure sensitive adhesive on its front major surface, and a second layer of removable pressure sensitive adhesive on its rear surface; and a front sheet of polymeric material having a size adapted to at least overlay the first layer of removable pressure sensitive adhesive on the back sheet which has a first edge attached to the back sheet with the front sheet overlying the first layer of removable pressure sensitive adhesive. When the back sheet is adhered to a planar substrate by the second layer of pressure sensitive adhesive, the front sheet can be pivoted away from the back sheet a distance affording positioning an edge portion of a sheet to be supported between the front sheet and the first layer of pressure sensitive adhesive and pressing of that portion of the sheet to be supported into engagement with the first layer of pressure sensitive adhesive so that the sheet will be supported along the substrate. Subsequently, the front sheet can be moved away from that supported sheet which can then be pealed away from the first layer of pressure sensitive adhesive and removed from the clip, after which the front sheet will protect the adhesive of the front of the back sheet until another sheet or other light object is adhered to it.

A repositionable article having a microstructured surface is described which includes a removable and rebondable adhesive layer having first and second surfaces and a control layer having a control surface and a back surface, the second surface of the adhesive layer adhered to the back surface of the control layer, the control surface defined by an array of a plurality of precisely shaped raised regions and a plurality of recessed regions. The articles find use particularly as mouse pads.

Abstract:

A slip control sheeting can comprise a backing having a first and a second major surface and an array of protrusions on the first major surface. The protrusions can be pyramids with polygonal bases or pyramidal frustums with polygonal bases. Alternatively, the protrusions can comprise posts having non-planar sides and bases on the first major surface wherein the posts taper radially inwardly from their bases to their tops, e. g. , cones or conical frustums with circular bases. The sheeting can further comprise at least one of a layer of adhesive on the second major surface, a reinforcing web, or a mechanical fastening component for fastening the backing to a substrate. The sheeting can be made so that it retroreflects less than about 10 percent of a beam of electromagnetic radiation which is incident at any angle to the second major surface, the electromagnetic radiation having any wavelength from about 0. 39 microns to about 1,000 microns.

Abstract:

A slip control sheeting comprising a backing having first and second major surfaces with an array of protrusions on the first major surface and at least one of (1) a layer of adhesive on the second major surface and (2) a reinforcing web at least partially embedded in the backing. The protrusions are pyramids with triangular bases having a height between about 3 and 21 mils and the array is defined in part by a pattern of three intersecting sets of parallel grooves formed in the first major surface, the grooves defining three major axes of the sheeting.
