Assignee:
Delphi Technologies, Inc. - Troy MI
International Classification:
H01B 7/295
US Classification:
174110R, 174113 R
Abstract:
Described is a vehicular harness comprising a plurality of insulated non-halogenated, heavy metal free vehicular cables, each comprising an inner core of a copper based metal wire having a thickness area of at least about 0. 1 mm, an outer insulation, covering the length of the inner core, comprised of a thermoplastic polyphenylene ether composition that has no halogen or heavy metal added thereto, the insulated cable capable of meeting the testing standard ISO 6722, and a tape comprised of the thermoplastic polyphenylene ether composition wrapped around the plurality of cables to hold the cables together. Also described is a tape having a plastic PPE layer with an adhesive on the bottom and a pealable layer.
Method Of Making A Seal About A Copper-Based Terminal
Francis D. Martauz - Canfield OH, US Mark A. Scheel - Canfield OH, US
Assignee:
Delphi Technologies, Inc. - Troy MI
International Classification:
H05K 13/00
US Classification:
29855, 29857, 29858, 174 84 C, 439 86, 439203
Abstract:
A method of forming a seal about an electrically conductive core of a cable having an insulative outer cover and a terminal includes the steps of providing a lead of the core extending beyond an axial edge of the insulative outer cover; applying a conformal coating onto the lead; crimping the terminal onto the cable while the conformal coating is still wet to displace the conformal coating from between the lead and the abutting contact surfaces of the terminal and to cover and seal remaining portions of the lead not in direct contact with the terminal with the conformal coating and curing the conformal coating over the remaining portions of the lead.
Electrical Terminal Connection With Galvanic Sacrificial Metal

Assignee:
DELPHI TECHNOLOGIES, INC. - TROY MI
International Classification:
H01R 4/10
US Classification:
439877
Abstract:
An electrical terminal has a copper-based body and a coating disposed on at least a portion of a surface of the body. The coating is a metal selected from a group consisting of zinc, magnesium, a zinc alloy, magnesium alloy or other metal that is more electronegative than aluminum and its alloys.
Electric Terminals Sealed With Microencapsulated Polymers
A method for sealing a terminal to a hole through a plastic body includes applying a microencapsulated polymer to a portion of the terminal that is to be sealed to the hole, the microencapsulated polymer including a plurality of microcapsules where each microcapsule includes a capsule wall with reactants within the capsule wall. The method also includes surrounding the portion of the terminal with the hole after applying the microencapsulated polymer. The capsule walls are ruptured to release the reactants and seal the terminal to the hole.
Electrical Connection System Having Force Distribution Seal
William G Strang - Warren OH Gary E. Casterline - Warren OH Mark A. Scheel - Canfield OH John Kountz - Poland OH John H. Bakker - Cortland OH
Assignee:
Delphi Technologies, Inc. - Troy MI
International Classification:
H01R 1352
US Classification:
439271
Abstract:
A force distribution seal for an electrical connection system having matable electrical connectors prevents leakage at the joint between the coupled connectors. The force distribution seal comprises a seal body with a plurality of radial bending ribs extending outward from the seal body. At least one external radial compression rail is disposed between each pair of adjacent bending ribs. At least one internal radial compression rail extends inward from the seal body. The internal radial compression rail is longitudinally disposed between a pair of adjacent bending ribs and corresponds to at least one external radial compression rail whereby force exerted upon a corresponding external radial compression rail by a radial bending rib is transferred to the internal compression rail to form a superior seal.
