Abstract:

An integrated circuit is disclosed that includes an output pad, a first functional unit block (FUB) coupled to the output pad and a control circuit coupled to the first FUB. According to one embodiment, the control circuit is adaptable to select a first group or a second group of internal signals within the first FUB that are to be transmitted to the output pad upon initiating a test mode at the integrated circuit. According to a further embodiment, the control circuit is further adaptable to receive a test vector including data that determines whether the first or second group of internal signals are transmitted to the output pad. According to yet another embodiment, the integrated circuit includes a second FUB coupled to the output pad and the control circuit. The control circuit is adaptable to select between a third group of internal signals and a fourth group of internal signals within the second FUB that are to be transmitted to the output pad.

Abstract:

A novel architecture for displaying images with multiple display devices uses only a single video display controller and single frame buffer regardless of how many display devices are included. The architecture can use a Time Division Multiplex Image Display (TDMID) algorithm for controlling the timing and data flow of the video display controller. The TDMID algorithm provides a simple way to send a divided image to different display devices by sharing line buffers, and thus eliminates the need for additional components as more display devices are added to a system. The novel architecture reduces overall system cost without sacrificing performance.

Abstract:

A multi-layered solid-state thermal-electrical generator (“MSTEG”) system capable of generating electricity from thermal energy is disclosed. An MSTEG system includes a thermal layer, a regulating layer, and a storage layer. The thermal layer, in one embodiment, includes multiple integrated thermal-electrical generator (“ITEG”) devices configured to generate electricity in response to a certain thermal condition. The thermal condition for example can be a temperature difference between 900 C. (Celsius) to 1200 C. for a certain layer. The regulating layer includes multiple thermal regulators deposited over the thermal layer, wherein the thermal regulators regulate temperature. The storage layer includes one or more thermal storage tanks deposited over the regulating layer, wherein each thermal storage tank is capable of storing heat.

Abstract:

A single-chip video-graphics controller displays a color image stored in an external display memory simultaneously on two devices having different refresh and display requirements. The controller includes a first display processor which fetches the color image from the external memory and displays the image on a first device, such as a color CRT monitor or TV. The controller reduces the bandwidth of the fetched color image on-the-fly and stores a copy of the reduced bandwidth image in another part of the external display memory. A second display processor fetches the reduced bandwidth copy at a rate compatible with a second display device, such as a DSTN flat-panel device using dithering for color depth enhancement. The two display processes are independent of each other, controlled only by the refresh requirements of the two display devices. In a specific embodiment of the invention, the controller includes a clock control circuit which alternatively slows or stops clock signals which operate the first display processor and the bandwidth reduction function when the first display device is shut off and when the color image is not changing over time.
