Abstract:

Radiation curable and jettable ink compositions comprise ethylenically unsaturated oligomer and an ethylenically unsaturated monofunctional monomer. The compositions may optionally include additional ethylenically unsaturated polyfunctional component and/or chain transfer agent. The compositions have a viscosity at 25 C. of not greater than about 70 cPs and are radiation curable to form a cured ink having an elongation of at least 150%.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a radiation curable coating composition for forming a polymeric coating on a glass optical fiber, the composition comprising a mixture of: a base radiation curable liquid composition capable of forming a polymeric coating; at least one adhesion promoter selected from the group consisting of bis-silyl amines, diacrylated silane tertiary amine, acetoxy functional silanes, trifunctional isocyanurates and mixtures thereof, and 0 to about 10 percent by weight of one or more photoinitiators. The present invention also includes a coated optical fiber, a method for making an optical fiber and compositions containing adhesion promoters that do not undergo free radical reaction with base radiation curable pre-polymer of the composition.

Abstract:

Disclosed herein are rapid radiation curable ink compositions that can cure at speeds that are greater than the speeds at which other commercially available ink compositions cure. The rapidly curing ink compositions advantageously display an increased cure speed, improved adhesion and solvent resistance when compared with other commercially available compositions. The ink compositions of the invention are substantially free of solvent, and include an ethylenically unsaturated hyperbranched oligomer having an average functionality of at least 6 per oligomer, a difunctional ethylenically unsaturated compound, and a photoinitiator. The ink compositions optionally include a surfactant and/or a vinyl amide monomer.

The present invention is directed to radiation curable and jettable ink compositions and particularly to such compositions which exhibit enhanced elongation, when cured at low doses, and are advantageously used, for example, in digital inkjet printing. Abstract:

The present invention provides multifunctional monomers, including, but not limited to include multifunctional methylene malonate and methylene beta-ketoester monomers; methods for producing the same; and compositions and products formed therefrom. The multifunctional monomers of the invention may be produced by transesterification or by direct synthesis from monofunctional methylene malonate monomers or methylene beta-ketoester monomers. The present invention further compositions and products formed from methylene beta-ketoester monomers of the invention, including monomer-based products (e.g., inks, adhesives, coatings, sealants or reactive molding) and polymer-based products (e.g., fibers, films, sheets, medical polymers, composite polymers and surfactants).
