Abstract:
A fiber having a non-uniform composition is disclosed. The fiber includes a first domain having a first composition and a second domain having a second composition different from the first composition. The fiber includes an interphase region intermediate the first and second domains that includes a blend of the first and second compositions to provide a gradual transition from the first domain composition to the second domain composition. A method for making such fibers is also disclosed.

Abstract:
An extruded filament is provided having a cross-sectional configuration which permits a cut transverse section of the filament to function as a high definition tagging material, the extruded filament having contained therein along the direction of the longitudinal axis (the axis of extrusion) of the filament a multitude of extruded strand portions, which may be the same or different from one another from the standpoint of composition, visual or forensic effect, and which strand portions provide a multitude of pixel-like portions within a cross-sectional portion of the filament, which multitude of pixel-like portions, when taken together, comprise at least one pre-selected degree of identification whereby the tagging material may be differentiated or identified based on at least one degree of identification. A cut fiber or microparticle formed from the filament may be used to authenticate a product when used in association with the product.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating performance indicators and improving performance based on metrics is disclosed. During work on a user story (project) for completion, teams and individuals perform work. This work on the user story is tracked and based on the tracking of the work, the system generates or receives metrics that define the team and individual actions. These metrics are used to calculate performance indicators which are provided to a manager, the team, or an individual. The calculation may include use of a weighting value and comparison of the performance indicator to a threshold. Responsive to the performance indicators various actions may occur including: providing training, moving an individual from the team to a different team, changing one or more physical processes by which work on a user story occurs, and terminating employment of an individual on a team.

"Doctors are paranoid about hyperkalemic death when they use these kidney- and heart- protective drugs. So they won't use them, or they use them in much lower doses than they should," said Dr. Matthew Weir of the University of Maryland School of Medicine and chief author of the patiromer study.
