Abstract:

An ice pack generally intended for single patient use includes an elongated bag member defined by opposite side panels. The bag member has a closed end and an open opposite end. The open end is used for introducing ice into the bag member by pulling the side panels apart at the open end. A portion of at least one of the side panels generally adjacent to the open end is expandable from a first width defined between sealed edges of the bag member to an increased width so as to provide a greater effective cross-sectional area to the opening in order to aid in filling the ice pack.

Abstract:

Disclosed herein is a newly isolated human coronavirus (SARS-CoV), the causative agent of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Also provided are the nucleic acid sequence of the SARS-CoV genome and the amino acid sequences of the SARS-CoV open reading frames, as well as methods of using these molecules to detect a SARS-CoV and detect infections therewith. Immune stimulatory compositions are also provided, along with methods of their use.

Abstract:

Vacuum easel for releasably holding material. The vacuum easel includes a panel having a first sheet and a second sheet with a plurality of walls disposed between the first and second sheets. The walls define a series of progressively larger air pathways between the first and second sheets. A plurality of openings are formed in the first sheet to allow communication of air between the exterior of the first sheet and the respective air pathways. At least a subset of the openings are associated with each of the air pathways. A zone selector is operable to selectively communicate a source of vacuum with at least one of the air pathways to draw air from the exterior of the vacuum easel through the openings associated with the selected air pathway.

Abstract:

A face mask is provided having a filter body sized to cover the nose and mouth of a wearer, a securing mechanism for holding the filter body in close fit with the wearer's face, and a fan attachment to enhance breathability and comfort of the mask. The fan is powered and configured with the exterior of the filter body to aid in drawing air through the filter media of the mask. The fan operates to draw warm, moist exhaled air from the interior volume of the mask to improve comfort, facilitate inhalation, and decrease fogging of any transparent portions of the mask or eye coverings. The fan may additionally operate to force cool, fresh air into the interior volume of the mask, also for the comfort of the wearer.
