Method and system for dynamic provision of service conveying packets to groups of end-users, each group of end-users is coupled to the system via a bandwidth limited media, the system including: a router, operative to receive service conveying packets and to provide to each group of end-users group associated service conveying packets; a session manager, coupled to the router, said session manager providing routing instructions to said router, for dynamically selecting group associated service conveying packets out of the received service conveying packets. At least some of the service conveying packets comprise media signals.

Abstract:

The address translation logic of the present invention is incorporated in a global positioning system (GPS) receiver and operates to group data in memory based on translating the address from a direct memory access controller. The data includes post-correlated samples of the correlation of a signal with a generated frequency and a generated code having a plurality of time offsets. In general, the address translation logic organizes the data such that each element of the data associated with particular ones of the plurality of time offsets are grouped together in order to improve the efficiency of performing a fast Fourier transform of the data. In addition, the address translation logic allows the transfer of data from correlation circuitry to memory, from the memory to an FFT module, and from the FFT module to the memory using standard DMA controllers.

Abstract:

Web pages and other Internet information resources are retrieved from a one-way broadcast signal such as a broadcast television signal. A user selects from a range of available information, including hypertext markup language (HTML) pages, which is carried in the broadcast stream by invoking a command which is defined according to a uniform resource locator (URL) format. Table mapping data is carried in the broadcast signal and provides a broadcast address corresponding to the URL of the user request signal for use in identifying a location in the broadcast signal from which the desired information can be retrieved. The broadcast address may provide information regarding a frequency, packet identifier, satellite, transponder, cryptographic scheme, modulation scheme, data rate, error correction scheme, page number or other relevant criteria associated with the broadcast signal which must be known to retrieve the requested information. The system has the look and feel of a two-way Internet connection, and is compatible with existing transmission schemes.

Abstract:

Textual and graphical displays are provided on a television screen using a hypertext markup language (HTML). On-screen display devices allow a user to invoke hyperlinks to different pages of HTML-coded data in addition to functions calls for controlling television and non-television appliance functions. A method provides HTML-coded display data which is processed to provide a signal suitable for reproduction on a television. The display data may provide information on a featured movie or other presentation of an associated video programming service signal such as a network television broadcast. Function calls allow the control of various television functions and programming options, such as the purchase of pay-per-view programming, or television display options such as aspect ratio, channel, brightness, picture-in-picture, or split-screen. Non-television appliances which may be controlled with function calls include audio equipment which is associated with the programming service (e. g. , surround sound, filtering) in addition to, for instance, a home heating and air conditioning system or other household appliances.
