Abstract:

An amplifier circuit includes an amplifier stage and a balun stage. The amplifier stage includes a common node connected to an external ground. An inductance is located between the common node and the external ground. The balun stage is connected to the amplifier stage. The balun stage includes a balun tail. The balun tail is directly connected to the common node of the amplifier stage so that a resulting connection between the balun tail and the common node bypasses the inductance between the common node and the external ground.

Abstract:

The present invention is a modular frequency division filter having an antenna port that connects to two or three transmission paths. Each transmission path includes either a band pass filter or a duplexer to separate the received signal by frequency. Frequency phase shifters or shunt inductors may be included to further enhance the frequency separation. Following frequency separation, the separated signal is transceived by a device operating at the respective separated frequency.

Abstract:

An image sensor includes a two-dimensional array of pixel elements where the array of pixel elements outputting pixel data representing an image of a scene, and a two-dimensional array of selectively transmissive filters superimposed on the two-dimensional array of pixel elements, whereby each pixel element in the array of pixel elements is disposed to capture a first and a second color spectra of visible light. In one embodiment, the image sensor is a digital pixel sensor where the array of pixel elements is a sensor array of digital pixels, each of the digital pixels outputting digital signals as pixel data. In another embodiment, the pixel elements of the image sensor output analog signals as pixel data. In this manner, light intensity values for two different color spectra are optically summed at the pixel level, providing pixel values that are suitable for use in interlaced video display. The image sensor of the present invention has applications in video cameras employing the CMYG (cyan, magenta, yellow, and green) interlaced capture scheme for capturing full color video images.

Abstract:

A balun including a pair of metal coil structures and an intervening dielectric layer having a thickness that is selected in response an operating frequency of the balun. The thickness of the dielectric layer may be used to tune the balun and enhance its self-inductance at its operating frequency. In addition, a balun with a pair of metal coil structures formed with an asymmetry that is selected to minimize an amplitude error in its output signal. A balun according the present teachings may also include an asymmetry in the positioning of its output terminals. The positioning of the output terminals of a balun may be adjusted to minimize phase errors at its output signal.

Abstract:

A film acoustically-coupled transformer (FACT) has a first and a second stacked bulk acoustic resonator (SBAR , SBAR ). Each SBAR has a stacked pair of film bulk acoustic resonators (FBARs) and an acoustic decoupler between the FBARs. Each FBAR has opposed planar electrodes and a layer of piezoelectric material between the electrodes. A first electrical circuit connecting one of the FBARs of SBAR to one of the FBARs of SBAR and a second electrical circuit connecting the other of the FBARs of SBAR to the other of the FBARs of SBAR. The first electrical circuit connects the respective FBARs in parallel and second electrical circuit connects the respective FBARs in series. A shunt inductor is included from the reception path to ground.

Abstract:

A method for calibrating a communication link that uses frequency ramps to locate the frequency response of a receiver. A method for calibrating according to the present teachings includes generating a transmit signal that includes a series of frequency ramps and determining a timing of gain peaks in a receiver in response to the frequency ramps in the transmit signal. The timing of gain peaks in the receiver indicates the frequency response of the receiver and is used to determine an adjustment to the transmit signal so that the transmit signal adapts to the frequency response of the receiver.

A method and circuit matches a device to n filters, wherein each filter is a SAW filter, BAW filter, or FBAR filter.
