Abstract:
Roughly described, a user instantiates protocol elements in a structured clinical trial protocol database and then draws from them in the development of one or more protocol related documents. The system helps the user select tasks to be performed during the study by reference to a historical database of tasks previously associated with similar protocols. The system automatically generates complex content from protocol elements in the database, and can render overlapping sets of protocol elements differently at different locations in the document. The system can automatically provide advisories indicating aspects of the document that still require completion or highlighting other issues that a sponsoring authority deems important for the document type. Alter all protocol elements are instantiated in the protocol database, it can then be used to drive the operation of most downstream aspects of the study.

Abstract:
A system is disclosed for controlling the plane of a laser beam in either horizontal, vertical or selected grade angle attitudes. The system includes an assembly comprising a housing which carries the operative components in a water-tight enclosure. The laser beam is generated by a laser tube carried on a chassis which is mounted for a limited range of universal movement about orthogonally intersecting Y and X axes by means of a gimbal frame. Optics structure is provided to route the beam in a collimated path along a Z-axis longitudinally of the chassis. A beam reflector unit rotatably mounted on an end of the chassis reflects the beam in a plane orthogonal to the Z-axis through a lighthouse structure provided in an end of the housing. The system for controlling the beam plane attitude includes three level sensing vials which are carried on the chassis, as well as a pair of Y- and X-axis motors and associated drive trains.
Apparatus And Method For Detection Of Deformation In Battery Cells
A deformation detection apparatus includes a cell movement-control assembly to handle a linear motion and a rotational motion of a battery cell, a body that supports the cell movement-control assembly, a digital micrometer, and control circuitry. The control circuitry controls a displacement of the battery cell between a first position and a second position along a longitudinal axis through a scanning region of the digital micrometer and a plurality of rotational positions of the battery cell at a plurality of charge states and a plurality of discharge states. The control circuitry measures a plurality of outer diameter values of the battery cell for a plurality of linear positions and a plurality of rotational positions along the longitudinal axis of the battery cell and determines a change in a geometrical shape (deformation and/or strain) of the battery cell for the plurality of linear positions and the plurality of rotational positions.
