Abstract:

This invention provides an e-learning system having a capability for authenticating the learner's ID via Internet with the learner's physical Bio-ID such as a fingerprint, an iris and/or a vein of the learner into the login process and additional periodic checking according to the instruction signal generated by the contents. Accordingly, once a learner successfully logs into his or her account, the computer will monitor each learner's progress on a lecture or an examination. Thus, the invention enable to operate a full online distance education from a single database for the worldwide learners, at each learner's own space and scheduling, anytime, anyplace, in any of the major languages selected by the learners and accurately account credit hours of each learner by the lectures and examination on demand for conferring a degree or to transfer the credit to the university where they will earn their degrees.

Abstract:

A guide for locating a target object within a visually opaque but x-ray transparent object has a base creating a first reference plane. A vertical post extends upward from the base perpendicular to the first reference plane. First target sighting members, which are at least partially opaque to x-ray are mounted for movement relative to the vertical support member and provide for creating a line parallel to the reference plane through the target. A system is provided for aligning x-ray fluoroscope with the first target. A second target has two target sighting members, one on an arm above the target object and the other on an arm below the target object. The x-ray fluoroscope is aligned with these such that when the x-ray fluoroscope is projecting in a line parallel to the upright support and perpendicular to the reference plane, it extends through opaque sights and through the target. The distance from the second target to the upright support is measured, and the probe is mounted at a predetermined angle, the line of which extends through a point on the vertical post equal to the distance from the post to the second sight divided by the tangent of the predetermined angle.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus is disclosed for calibrating an ultrasonic inspection system having a plurality of transducers (12a, 12b, 12c) coupled by a common amplifier (16) to a distance-amplitude correction (D-AC) circuit comprised of a multiplying digital-to-analog converter (26') which receives, as a function of the transit time of an ultrasonic signal measured by a clock counter (34), a D-AC correction stored in a look-up table in a random access memory (24'). The D-AC correction function stored in the look-up table for each transducer is the inverse of a return signal response curve determined by measuring the peak amplitude of return signals from calibration holes at known depths in a test block (10) while in a calibrate mode, i. e. , with a switch (SW) in a state to bypass the MDAC. An equation of a curve that best fits the peak measurements is then found by a digital computer (20) and used to determine the values of points along a curve superimposed on the response curve, except at near field where the calibration system is provided with truncation for near-field effects.

Abstract:

This invention is related to the method and system apparatus for installing large scale solar cell panels on mountain slopes. More specifically, because the existing method of installing solar cell modules above ground requires a broad land area and has the problem of the impossibility of constructing solar photovoltaic power stations that can replace nuclear power plants in a nation with limited land area, this invention is providing the effective method of constructing large scale photovoltaic power generation station and application system apparatus therein that increases the land-use efficiency by providing the system apparatus and method for tiered installation of several solar cell panels in top-to-bottom vertical direction using abandoned mountain slopes. In addition, this invention provides technology that improves the lifespan of photovoltaic power generation system semi-permanently by panel replacement and simple maintenance of panels by hoisting up or down with a motor winch through rails for installation and disassembling of the system thereof. Thus, this invention provides the most economic solution to build a solar power station utilizing mountain slop, safe against strong wind by connecting 4 axes of panels with rails, and that improves the sunlight collection efficiency based on arbitrary variation of reflecting plane of each frame by degrees with a length variable connection tool between each corner of solar cell panel frames and rails.

A protective case for use with a portable electronic device includes a protective shell and a cap. The protective shell is configured to at least partially encase the portable electronic device and includes an aperture configured to align with a receptacle of the portable electronic device when the portable electronic device is installed in the protective case.
