Abstract:

A computer-based method and apparatus transfer files from a source media to a destination media. In one embodiment, the presence of a source media in a source storage drive is detected. In response to the detection, a user is prompted to transfer files from the source media. Then, in response to user input, files are transferred from the source media to the destination media. In another embodiment, a user is prompted for a transfer session identifier. Data is then transferred from a source media to a subdirectory on a destination media. The subdirectory corresponds to the transfer session identifier. The method and apparatus aid in migrating computer data from one storage technology to another (e. g. , from media based on an older technology to media based on a newer technology).

Abstract:

A universally available system and method are used to provide information to a system user as to the contents stored in a memory. In one embodiment, a CD ROM is used to store data thereon and the data is abstracted and the abstract is stored in a HTML file as a WEB page. The abstract file is then available for viewing by any browser without regard to the operating system of the host computer. Hot link buttons on the WEB page abstract allow a user to open a file from the WEB page. Audio and video abstracts can be added and the user can participate in the creation and selection of the abstract.

Abstract:

A cooling system for a computer blade is disclosed. The cooling system comprises a main printed circuit (PC) board with at least one component mounted on a top side of the main PC board. A heat transfer plate is located at the first end of the main PC board. An airflow divider is mounted on, and is perpendicular with, the top side of the main PC board. The airflow divider runs in an axis generally parallel with the first side of the main PC board. A lid is coupled to the main PC board thereby enclosing the main PC board, the heat transfer plate and the airflow divider. The lid encloses a first airflow channel running along the first side of the main PC board and a second airflow channel running along the second side of the main PC board. A fan is located on top side of the main PC board in the first airflow channel. The fan is configured to re-circulate air from the second airflow channel through the first airflow channel, past the heat transfer plate, and then back into the second airflow channel.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for displaying information descriptive of the contents or intended use of a file. For Graphical User Interfaces on a computer monitor, abbreviated data for the file is displayed in a window opened adjacent to the file icon. The abbreviated data in this window describes the contents of the file. The display window containing the abbreviated data is placed so as to indicate the file to which it is attached and that it describes. Text, graphical, and other types of data can be displayed.
