Abstract:

The illustrative embodiment provides a computer implemented method, a data processing system, and a computer program product for managing user roles. A customization application receives a request to modify a user role for an application. In response to the request, the customization application allows a user to modify a set of features associated with the user role to form a set of customized features. A role database stores the set of customized features for the user role. The user roles in the role database are available for use by a plurality of users of the application.

Abstract:

Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for determining an extension to use to process an input object to a call in a program. An association of parameter definitions is indicated with extensions, where each extension comprises a program capable of being selected to process at least one input object as part of an operation. A call is received for an extension point including at least one input object to determine one extension to use to process the at least one object, wherein requirements are defined for the extension point. A determination is made of a set of candidate extensions capable of processing the at least one input object based on a first criteria determining extensions whose parameter definitions are capable of satisfying the requirements defined for the extension point. A selection is made from the set of candidate extensions of one extension to use to process the at least one object using a second criteria.

Abstract:

An apparatus, system, and method for automated conversion of content reduces the development and support burden associated with multiple content representation versions such as those associated with various releases of a software program. In one embodiment, a version identification module determines a source version identifier for specified content, a sequence determination module receives the source version identifier along with a target version identifier and determines a minimum length conversion sequence. Furthermore, a conversion control module invokes one or more content converters corresponding to the conversion sequence and provides the specified content in the target representation. The ability to cascade multiple content converters into a composite converter increases the permutation of content representations that may be supported with a small number of converters.

Abstract:

A method and system providing an extensible transformation framework have been disclosed. The framework in accordance with the method and system receives a plurality of artifacts as input. The framework calls classifiers to determine a type for each of the plurality of artifacts. The classifier may not group together a set of artifacts related to each of the plurality of artifacts. The classifiers create work units for each artifact containing information appropriate for the artifact's type. The framework then calls the transformation algorithm corresponding to each artifact's type to transform the artifacts. In this manner, the framework automatically classifies and groups different types of artifacts and performs the appropriate transformation of each artifact. The framework is also extensible, such that more artifact types and corresponding transformation algorithms can be added.
