Abstract:

A method, system and apparatus for blocking unsolicited instant messages. A system for selectively blocking unsolicited instant messages can include an instant messaging client, at least one human sensory test and, a spim sentry. Notably, the spim sentry can be configured to selectively block an incoming instant message based upon an application of the human sensory test to a source of the incoming instant message. For example, the human sensory test can be a visual test where identifiable text is obscured in a picture. Also, the human sensory test can be an audible test where identifiable audio is obscured in an audio message.

A method, system and apparatus for selectively blocking the transmission of an unsolicited instant message. The method of the invention can include receiving an instant message designated an intended recipient; locating the intended recipient in a do not instant message list; and, responsive to the location, blocking the instant message for subsequent transmission to the intended recipient. Notably, the blocking step can include the step of selectively blocking the instant message based upon a specified policy defined for the intended recipient.

Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to queued requests to establish human-to-human collaborative sessions and provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for managing queued requests to establish human-to-human collaborative sessions. In one embodiment, a human-to-human collaborative data processing system can be provided which can include a messenger configured for coupling to other messengers. The system further can include a queue of incoming session requests to establish respective human-to-human collaborative sessions with requesters associated with the other messengers. The present invention provides a method, system, and computer program product for transferring authorization rights to access a file. A method in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes: designating a location to store the file; creating a file-transfer-reference for the file based on the location; creating an authorization protocol for the file; selecting at least one recipient of the file-transfer-reference; and forwarding the file-transfer-reference to the at least one recipient according to the authorization protocol. A system, method, and program product that receives an email message at a first computer system, the received email message being subsequent to an original email message that was addressed to a group of email recipients, and the received email message is addressed to one of the email participants that include the email recipients and the original sender of the original email message. The system, method, and computer program product identifies whether a continuity of service was set for the original email message. If the continuity of service was set for the original email message and that the received email message is addressed to the original sender, then the received email message is forwarded to the other email recipients.

Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to instant messaging and provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for probabilistic prediction of availability in an instant messaging system. In one embodiment of the invention, a probabilistic prediction method for instant messaging can be provided. The method can include collecting statistics for when different collaborators in an instant messaging system become available and unavailable. Thereafter, a particular one of the different collaborators can be selected and a probabilistic likelihood can be computed that the particular one of the collaborators will become available by a specified time. Finally, the computed probabilistic likelihood can be rendered in association with the particular one of the different collaborators.
