Abstract:

A real time Taq-Man PCR assay for detecting multiple serotypes of human papillomavirus (HPV) wherein the number of serotypes detected exceeds the number of colorimetric channels for detection. A biological sample is combined with three oligonucleotide primer/probe sets such that the probes and primers anneal to a target sequence. Each primer/probe set is at least preferential for a specific serotype of an organism. The first and second primer/probe sets are degenerate with respect to each other. The third primer/probe set is not degenerate with respect to the first and second primer/probe sets and discriminates for a third serotype. The third primer/probe set has a signal moiety that emits signal at a wavelength that is the same or different from the wavelength emitted by the signal moiety of the degenerate primer/probe set probes. The target sequences, if present, are amplified and detected.

Abstract:

The powered, moveable hitting tee of the instant invention is basically made up of a vertical tee, a reciprocating, horizontally disposed rod supporting the vertical tee, and a drive assembly or mechanism that is coupled to horizontally disposed rod to move the vertical tee towards the player. A moveable sled or carriage assembly movably supports the horizontally disposed rod. In one embodiment, a motor and pulley assembly is used for rotating a drive belt, which in turn moves the sled, the rod and the vertical tee. In another embodiment, a chain drive is used for moving the sled, the rod and the vertical tee. In another embodiment, a lead screw is used for moving the sled, the rod and the vertical tee. The particular structure that moves the vertical tee is not critical to the basic concept of the present invention. Rather, it will be apparent from this disclosure that various drive mechanisms can be made used to move the vertical tee towards the player.

Abstract:

A snap-on insulation barrier for window frames including an elongated base member having means for securing the base member to the frame, the base member being generally of strip configuration and having a pair of opposed rails having portions extending upwardly and outwardly from the base member, the base member having side members and the side members extending beyond the outwardly extending portions of the opposed rails a substantial distance and forming with the outwardly extending portions of the rails a pair of opposed U-slots. Also provided is a second strip having a C-shaped cross section with inturned ends for engaging in the U-slots and having inside and outside surfaces. On the outside surface of the second strip is an upstanding bead running the length thereof. Also provided is a third strip having inside and outside surfaces and having an expandable slot formed by flexible opposed rails running the length of the inside surface conforming to and co-operating with the bead for snap fit over the bead.

Abstract:

The powered, movable hitting tee made up of a vertical tee, a reciprocating, horizontally-disposed rod supporting the vertical tee, a movable sled or carriage assembly within which the reciprocating rod is mounted, a drive belt or, in the alternative, a chain and sprocket assembly arranged parallel to and in operable contact with the rod, thus engaging the rod and driving the same, a motor for rotating the drive belt or chain, thus to move the sled, rod and vertical tee, and a box enclosure for all the components of the invention, save for a portion of the reciprocating rod and the vertical tee. The rod free-end and the base of the vertical tee are, in a first embodiment, only loosely, frictionally interfitted together so that, should the vertical tee be accidentally struck, then it will simply fall off of the rod, without damage to any of the parts of the invention. The vertical tee may include a rather rigid lower segment and a somewhat flexible upper segment made of memory-retentive material (e. g. , rubber), which will bend but not be damaged when struck accidentally by a bat.
