MBA, Information SystemsBecause IT is no longer a business unit hidden in cold basements and cellars filled with racks of CAT5 and blinking lights - I am excited to have the opportunity to explore IT supporting Business processes.
This is not to say that my MSIS did not cover these areas of interest - because the MSIS is a track provided by the Business School. I am simply positioning my person as an expert in the field of understanding the connections (at depth) between human processes and the information highway that enhances functionality.
Can I say that I will never have the urge to run the accounting side of a corporate body? Absolutely not - because I know plenty of former Accounting Managers that are running IT departments. But wouldn't it be wonderful to have an expert in the house that can literally run both departments without error? I think those people are called CIO's, CEO's, and executive types alike.
Big Dreams need Big Thinkers!
University of Colorado at Denver 2007 - 2008
Masters, Enterprise Technology ManagementPlease see the MBA notes - as it is a continuance of the Masters of Science Information Systems.
The MSIS is a completed degree. And as part of a Dual Masters Program, I will be completing the MBA by 2010. I believe the combination of degrees (along with my executive management experience in the government) will help me to provide any business team unit with an invaluable asset.

BSBA, Information Systems, Human Resource Management, Change ManagementThis is where the dream begins. The core foundation is built up. This is me playing triple 'A' ball and hoping to get my shot in the big leagues.
As you can see - I have moved on to the bonus round and went all in. Receiving my MSIS has delayed me from joining a great team at a super company - and I am so happy to have waited it out.
The BSBA was such a great experience. I originally went in with only the IS emphasis. But soon realized the future of IS was not just about developing technology - but absolutely about developing 'people' for using technology. So I took a few more classes per semester and attended summer school to add on minors in Human Resource Management and Change Management.
Quote:
'Even in such technical lines as engineering, about 15% of one's financial success is due one's technical knowledge and about 85% is due to skill in human engineering, to personality and the ability to lead people.'
*Dale Carnegie
Skills:
I specialize in people Technology is a what I bring to the table Just like a professional sports team - there are many players and each one has a specialty Sure they can probably play every position but if you want to make the best of the individual - you use them where they specialize So I play in the Technology league My position is people To see me at my best and leverage the technology expertise I have acquired - place me where technology and people are critical factors
Interests:
I take interest in people. I know it appears to be nothing unusual - but it is unique. I like to meet people of different neighborhoods. Not just within close proximity - but from across the country. Culture does not require travel to other countries. Culture is right in your neighbors living room. Ask a friend sometime where they or their family are from. And then pay attention - because you're about to meet culture.
