Abstract:

An electrophotographic method for producing fused toner images on a receiver medium comprising the steps of: forming an electrostatic image pattern on an image forming member; developing the image pattern on the image forming member with fusible toner particles thereby forming a toner image thereon; transferring the toner image to the receiver medium; and heating the toner image to form a fused toner image on the receiver medium, wherein an amount of a plasticizer is added to the toner particles of the toner image after formation of the toner image on the image forming member and prior to or concurrent with fusing of the transferred toner image on the receiver medium, further wherein the amount of plasticizer added is effective in lowering the Tg of the toner below that of the toner under prevailing ambient conditions in the absence of the added plasticizer. The current invention overcomes the limitations of the prior art because the plasticizer is added immediately before fusing, thus avoiding toner clumping upon storage, as well as eliminating the high cost associated with a custom manufactured receiver that already contains plasticizer.

Abstract:

Apparatus and method for producing and maintaining high purity water of a quality suitable for delicate laboratory analysis work. The apparatus is comprised of a cylindrical stainless steel two gallon container for holding a batch of distilled water, a removable cover forming a closure on the container and carrying close to the wall of the container a closed bottom transparent quartz tube extending substantially to the bottom of the container and housing therein an elongated mercury vapor lamp substantially the height of and parallel to the wall of the container and electrically coupled to a starter, ballast and On-Off switch circuits in a housing fixed to the top of the cover and adapted for coupling to an alternating current power source for thereby causing the mercury vapor lamp to become a source of photochemically active 185 nanometer wavelength range electromagnetic radiation in the batch of water in the container and causing a gentle steady state convection circulation of the water about the source of the electromagnetic radiation which results in the photochemical oxidation of any organic matter in the water and maintains the water in a state of high purity.

Abstract:

A system, which uses the internet to deliver time sensitive information, includes an overlay node, having a plurality of overlay nodes, which are used to deliver the time sensitive information. To better characterize the connection between a sending node and a receiving node, the sending node periodically requests each overlay node in the path between the sending node and the receiving node to force a retransmission of a packet, while also forwarding that same packet to the next overlay node.In this way, the delay associated with each link in the path can be quantified and recorded by the receiving node. Based on the observed transmission delays, the receiving node may determine an optimal buffer time. This buffer time is the amount of buffering performed at the receiving node prior to outputting the time sensitive information.
