Abstract:

Methods, systems, devices and kits for performing lung volume reduction in patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or other conditions using and comprising minimally invasive instruments introduced through the mouth (endotracheally) to isolate a target lung tissue segment from other regions of the lung and reduce lung volume. Isolation is achieved by deploying an obstructive device in a lung passageway leading to the target lung tissue segment. Once the obstructive device is anchored in place, the segment can be aspirated through the device. This may be achieved by a number of methods, including coupling an aspiration catheter to an inlet port on the obstruction device and aspirating through the port. Or, providing the port with a valve which allows outflow of gas from the isolated lung tissue segment during expiration of the respiratory cycle but prevents inflow of air during inspiration. In addition, a number of other methods may be used.

Abstract:

The present invention provides improved methods, systems, devices and kits for performing lung volume reduction in patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or other conditions where isolation of a lung segment or reduction of lung volume is desired. The methods are minimally invasive with instruments being introduced through the mouth (endotracheally) and rely on isolating the target lung tissue segment from other regions of the lung. Abstract:

A system and method for providing digital data content to a wireless device. Although a fee is typically charged for access to the digital data content, e.g., electronic books, the system and the method provides controlled access to this content for free while the wireless device is accessing the content in a specified location, e.g., a retail location. A content control server receives a request from the wireless device requesting access to the digital data content. The request is received over a secure connection, preferably a virtual private network (VPN). The content control server monitors how much of the digital data content has been provided to the wireless device, and/or an amount of time the wireless device has been accessing the digital data content. This content control server uses this monitored data to control, throttle, the provision of the digital data content to the wireless device.

Abstract:

This is directed to self-shielded components and methods for making the same. A self-shielded component can include an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield that contains circuitry within a shielded space defined by the EMI shield. Self-shielding can be achieved by interfacing a conformal shield layer to a ground layer disposed on or within a substrate of the self-shielded component. The combination of the conformal shield layer and the around layer can form a boundary of the shielded space that envelops circuitry requiring shielding. This enables the self-shielded component to be mounted to a circuit board without requiring a shield can or other processing to impart EMI shielding. In addition, the self-shielded components include the benefits of EMI shielding while simultaneously decreasing space requirements.

Abstract:

Electronic devices may include displays. A display may include backlight components that provide backlight illumination for the display. Backlight components may include a light guide plate that distributes light from a light source across the display. A plastic display chassis may be used to support display layers and backlight components. A light blocking material such as a layer of metal or opaque coating material may be formed on a surface of the plastic display chassis and may be used to reduce light leakage from the backlight components to the exterior of the electronic device. A metal barrier structure may be formed on a surface of the support structure and may be used to ground a conductive display layer to a conductive support structure such as a metal display chassis or a metal housing member. The plastic display chassis may be insert molded around a light barrier structure.
